My very first night at KSU my frosh year I was living in the dorms.  My floor seemed pretty cool, and a group of us decided to go out to one of the "welcome back students" house parties.

One of the guys said he was going to call a friend of his that he met in a summer course and invite them.  We show up to the first party, and it ends up being one of those parties full of country guys.  You know the type, the farmer slang, loud country music, all white, half of them wearing boots and cowboy hats.  It was kind of weird at first because I was from the 'burbs.  But they had a keg, and after a few drinks it wasn't weird anymore.

Until that guy and his friends showed up.  They pulled up in a minivan and were dropped off right in front of the house.  Turns out the guy from my floor had called...






Not just that, but spilling out of the minivan behind him were...



I was introduced to them(not realizing who they were at the time) and then we went inside.  This party probably had around 200 people, and the vast majority were drunk white country guys.

Can you imagine that group of guys at a party with 200 drunk hicks?  Can you imagine how awkward that would be?  I distinctly remember Massey saying "what did I get myself into" when he walked in the door.  Damn near nobody at the party even realized who they were (and let's face it, back then ksu basketball didn't warrant paying a lot of attention to.)  They grouped together for most of the night, and none of them drank, and the whole thing was very weird.  Didn't look like any of them were enjoying Manhattan.  Finally some drunk jersey chasers recognized them and jumped all over them.  The girls apparently weren't up to standards though, as that just made them even more uncomfortable.  Finally they left, and Massey shook his head disapprovingly at Clent, basically saying "that's the last time i'm going anywhere with you."

From that moment until the end of his basketball career Clent Stewart was an outcast among the other members of the ksu bb team.

Gerald Eaker lived next door to me in the dorm.  One night he got into an argument with his baby momma on the phone at about 2 am and tossed the phone down the hallway and shattered it into a million pieces.  He lived about halfway down the hall and bounced it about 15' back off the end of the hallway.

Derek King (fb player--scored a TD vs CSU in the Holiday) was completely bombed and stumbled into a group of us sitting around playing Street Fighter that same year.  He just kind of stood there and we all looked at him and said "What's up."  Stood there for several more seconds silently before turning and stumbling out.

I also got to play Hearts with Deryl King and Trasel Rone.  I think the deck of cards had more smarts than those two combined.  Apologies if either of those two are members of this bbs.

The '07 mbb team came to my house where I preceded to whoop white tigers ass in foosball. hoskins also was getting trounced in beer pong (not drinking).

Summer of '06 Josh Freeman was throwing up on the yard after drinking himself stupid. Later that summer he showed up at my place giving out shots of rum.

There was another one where a fb player was being a complete dick and trying to start a fight over a game of beer pong. Can't remember his name, but I had to talk him down and tell him to stfu or get out of my house.

all of that is nothing though. i have a feeling you should ask benji about a certain Reggie Walker.

Also, one summer I helped Cartier Martin and his lady load some fine patio furniture from the lawn and garden dpmt at Walmart.  Asked him how the team was looking for the upcoming season.  He totally got my hopes up.

Freshman year in Haymaker, I was walking down the hall toward my room when the door from the lobby opened, and who should come through but Darren Sproles. As he walked past me I noticed he had a huge supersoaker and was heading down toward Byron Garvin and Bryan Baldwin's room. He knocked on the door and when they opened it just doused their whole room with water before running down the back stairwell. One of the more surreal moments in the dorms.

sub leased from Jeff Kelly's gf?  Walked in to see the place and was like, holy crap that was Jeff Kelly.  She lived there a week with us before moving, he sat on the couch a lot.

My Soph year, I lived accross the hall from the local fb girl, in Chase.

Jeff Kelly and Bishop lived the next building over. 

Many times I would be coming home from the bars and would see Kelly/Bishop(or both) running from their building to mine in nothing but their boxers and go into her room. 

One time, Bishop went over there in the middle of the day and dropped his pants as she answered the door.

Kelly would sometimes escort new guys over there, make introductions, then leave them alone.

We openly called her the Football Whore.  She seemed fine with it.

Kitchen and Manbeck were partaking in Fake Patty's Day after the loss to ISU yesterday, and I don't think they were together but they had to both be there at the same time and be aware of it since Shot Stop only holds about 50 people max.  Kitchen was buying a few young co-eds quite a few drinks

Sat next to Michael Bishop in Intro to Mass Comm several times.  Not sure he ever stopped talking to the 2 or 3 jersey chasers nearby.

Also had Josh Scobey in a marketing class.  We had to do a presentation on a product of our choice (to sell).  Scobey gets up and mumbles a bunch of crap about taking his PS2 to inner city kids so they stay off the streets.  We were all just looking around like WTF and when he was done the teach goes, "great job Josh, that was a great angle on the project that I never thought of".  It was pretty hilarious.

Had Natural Disasters with several football players.  I always ended up sitting next to Stephen Washington (center on the foosball team).  Anyway, he was a beast of a man and took up most of my seat and the seat on the other side of him.  In that class, you take a quiz every day using scantron cards.  He didn't have one so he asked me for one.  Next thing I know, George R. Clarke II is standing there telling both Stephen Washington and I to leave because we were interupting him.  So in front of 400 or so people, huge black football player and little white nobody walk out of class.  So we went to the union and hung out for a while and Danny Morris bought me some Taco Bell.

Worked in youth football/prep coverage in South Florida for awhile around 2002-2004 or so.  Met Mario Smith and he was a really cool dude.  Kind of small, too.   Didn't seem like the type to kill a man on the football field, but I guess that just goes to show you you never know.  He was trying to start one of these draft prep/training businesses - no idea how he did with it.

Once met a random former ku scrub who was an assistant coach at some scrub high school program.  He struck up a conversation with me about my docks (dude was like, "you have to be from Kansas, wearing docks" -- was right and we lol'ed about it).  I was like, "How tough was it getting your teeth kicked in by Snyder year after year?"  He was all, "We had trouble sleeping, man."  I responded, "Well, I'm glad you guys were so shitty."  He said, "Yeah, we were really bad."  I popped my collar and walked off.
