Holy Crap!!
« on: March 04, 2010, 11:34:46 AM »
I about pee'd my pants.   The new office is in office park just at the end of the runway at the local, small but International mind you airport.

Military does touch and goes . . . and 2 F-15E's just damn near tore the roof off.    First I was all  :runaway: :ohno:  then I was like this is cool, my own little airshow right out the office window.

All the Executive type jets do touch and goes regularly, including Air Force 1 and Air Force 2.

The other day it was Marine Harriers, and V-22 Osprey's fly over all the time.

Love the air show. Haven't missed an Andrews Air Base air show since moving out here.

No. The DC airshow is super elite. And, as a side bonus, it also brings out all the rednecks who have fled urban sprawl. Sooooo many black-tshirts with pics of skulls on them.

Plus, they give limited tours of the facility to cleared guests (did you know the Air Force One Hanger can actually submerge itself like an elevator in the case of an attack? rough ridin' amazing. Is it true? Not sure, but would be too disappointed if not so have never verified it).

Steve Dave rips by the tower at 150 knots causing chaos and worry.

I like looking at military bases on Google Earth . . . although I get all  :ohno:  thinking HLS is going to bust through the door at any second.   It's a little mind blowing looking at our vast military industrial complex from above.    Weirdest ones are looking at things like that Nevada Test Site and Russian Military bases.

Back when I worked at KAKE, a jet from McConnell nearly clipped our tower at our transmitter site near Copeland.  There is a tape of it somewhere in the GC office.  He flew in between two of the support cables

Yeah, dude got ripped pretty hard after the general manager made a few calls.

B1's used to do touch and goes in Salina often back in the mid/late 90's, those babies are fracking LOUD.  Also could see B1, B52, and F14 doing bombing runs out by Kanopolis reservoir pretty much any day.   Many occurrences of pant crapping with no warning until they were on top of you.

one weekend after a long weekend in vegas i flew in the space shuttle  (two words?) from Cleveland to Minneapolis;  it's really mind blowing how tightly cramped those things are.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I get Southwest Airlines flying low over directly over my house 40 times a day.  It was kind neat at first, then I got to thinking what if one dies on approach.  :ohno:

my house is directly in the flight plan of the busiest air force base in the country.  I can literally see the pilot over my house giving a "wassup" head nod.  Kinda zone it out after a while (the noise, not the head nodding).
