Don't know a whole lot about Dallas...other than Jerry World is in the middle of rough ridin' nowhere.  Is there some sort of consensus where all the good looking/smelling Qatz will be congregating down there?  We were going to stay at the W, but now we're leaning towards getting a room at the Adolphus so we're closer to McKinney.  Are we on the right track here?
McKinney???

I've heard that the Texas Schoolbook Depository is a popular hangout.
Been there. It will blow your mind.
Sounds pretty awesome. I've heard the whole Dealey Plaza area in general is a terrific place to clear your head. MeatSauce, can you confirm?

Actually if you've never been to the grassy knoll, you really should at least walk around it a little bit.  Great place to drive through in a convertible.

Hotel in Dallas or Ft. Worth?

The only thing that sucks about this game is that the stadium is in the middle of rough ridin' nowhere and there doesn't seem to be any consensus as to where everything is going to be going on.  There's about a 30 mile radius where everyone is going to be spread out.  :frown:

We're scalping too.  Still not worried.  :blank:

I lived in Dallas 2 yrs.
Jerry World is in BFE, same for the rangers, and Six Flags, Jerry World should of been built near downtown dallas (blame the old dallas mayor)
Ft. Worth sucks....unless you are a cowboy (no offense to anyone, just not my thing)
I'm staying in some cheap hotel "near" the stadium (actually I'm rooming with Weird Robert)...kidding.

Lived a couple blocks from the gaylord texan (very nice and impressive hotel).  Great place to live, HORRIBLE location to pak (zero bar scene, except wine bars on main street grapevine).  No idea where designated emaw locals are yet, but I would suggest sundance square on friday and victory plaza/uptown dallas/deep ellum/dallas alley areas on saturday after mavs game.  sundance is not for cowboys, cowboys go to stockyards (mostly billy bobs) which still isn't that bad.  TCU goes to sundance, smu goes to greenville ave (dallas college bar scene).

mckinney is not a good idea unless you're staying with family/friends.  million miles away and suburbs.

Yeah...I think I was confused when I said McKinney.  We're basically trying to decide between Sundance Square and the Adolphus downtown.  Sounds like Sundance Square will be the place to be on Friday and downtown Dallas will be the place to be on Saturday.  Don't really want to switch hotels though.  This blows.

What would you recommend for transportation between Dallas/Ft. Worth/Stadium?  Cabs look to be insanely expensive since everything is so spread out.  Heard about a possible free shuttle from Sundance Square to the stadium on Friday but don't have any details.  We're a strong lean towards the Adolphus just because it will be more fun on Saturday after all the EMAWs leave.  Just hoping that the best after-game parties aren't in Ft. Worth because that's an expensive cab ride from Ft. Worth to Dallas.

Invite a friend that doesn't drink :)  Cabs are really expensive, especially for a 30+ mile drive.  Parking/driving are easy here.  Everything is spread out unlike most major cities that are bound by oceans/mountains/rivers/lakes/etc.  Conversely, public transportation blows, and it's worse late at night.  Not sure on shuttles, but wouldn't surprise me.  Sherlocks in arlington had free shuttle to cowboys games if you bought a beer or two there.  Not sure for cotton bowl, though.

Here's what you need to know...

Arlington is not BFE.  Its the middle of a metropolis of 6 million people.

Your best bests are in the following order:

1. Sundance Square

8.0's
Houston Street
Flying Saucer
Pete's Piano
Vice (upscale)
many more

2. West 7th Street (new TCUish bar district)

Pour House
Garage
Martini Lounge
a few others

3. Stockyards

Billy Bobs
Cadalacs
Filthy McNasty
a few others

Stay in Fort Worth.  It's your duty as an EMAW to scout the competition for next season.  Unless u wanna go to the ghost bar in Dallas and spend 49.99 per drank and hang with some Mustang doches.  But honestly, Sundance is where u wanna be.

Free edge up to defensive starters when opponents held under 10.

Can confirm Downtown Fort Worth is the place to be.  9 Rooms in our group all EMAW'd out at the Hilton there.  Plus there is a Ruth's Chris in the Lobby for all the  :kstategrad:

The place to pak in Dallas is dubbed "Uptown."   This hotel is near the action http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/Dallas/Default.htm   If you can't afford to stay here, search for others in the same area.

Staying at the Adolphus myself.  The mrs. reserved a room in early November as we both had a gut feeling it would be Cotton no matter how K-State's season turned out.

I'll provide more details as far as where we'll be parking, our room number, and our seats so Jeffy can be ready with his camera.

I think we've settled it.  We're staying at the Adolphus.  It's going to be better on Saturday night when everyone leaves if we can hang out in the elite part of town.  The cabs will be expensive if we pak in Ft. Worth on Friday night after the game, but we're :kstategrad: .  We've also never had a problem finding a random place to crash or scamming free rides.  :gocho:

Hopefully I can run into a random goEMAW'r or 2 and buy them a drink.
