Looks like he unloaded on em about the BCS and such at the IMG Intercollegiate Athletic Forum. reporters are tweeting his comments.  :ksu:

http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/41396/sugar-bowl-picks-strike-at-bcs-credibility

"John Currie unloaded on the Sugar Bowl this morning with both barrels at a national collegiate sports forum put on by IMG. He’s in NYC and was one of 6 athletic directors in the panel. Lots of national writers tweeting his comments (Andy Staples/ SI, Darren Rovell/ CNBC, Brett McMurphy/ CBS). Highlights-

- All but said that he failed K-State because he wasn’t part of the good ‘ol boy network at the Sugar Bowl.
- Asked if people who can’t be impartial in their decisions should be removed from bowl selection.
- Said colleges don’t need bowls like they once did to build their brand.
- Said K-State sells tickets, so that isn’t an issue.

- Asked if people who can’t be impartial in their decisions should be removed from bowl selection.

THIS. A MILLION rough ridin' TIMES THIS.

You've got coaches voting Oklahoma State 4th and 5th for no reason other than to protect their conference and people voting in the Harris poll that haven't watched a football game in a decade.

while i appreciate currie being butthurt and talking publicly about it (as i'm sure all kstate fans are), it is his job to ensure we don't get passed over based on something like familiarity. he failed.

He met Sugar Bowl executive director Paul Hoolahan in New York on Monday afternoon. Hoolahan explained to him the fact that the Hokies had been to the Sugar Bowl twice before played into the decision.

Asked who let Kansas State down, Currie said, “I let us down, because I didn’t know the people well enough to do whatever we’re supposed to do. If that’s what we’re going to be about, whoever had a relationship 40 years ago, I don’t think that’s the thing to stand up and tell student-athletes. ‘Hey, you get to do this or this because of somebody else’s relationship.”

Pretty great how Currie is getting the entire fanbase to rally around his incompetence.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

How did VT having played in the Sugar Bowl twice before play into their decision positively? Wouldn't they want new teams, especially one's who have fans that travel well?

You'd also think that since VT fans have been there twice already, they wouldn't really want to go back.

dennis dodd claims Sugar picked VT because they are familiar with them.  and with the Sugar Bowl's tiny volunteer corps they needed someone familiar so they could handlle both the Sugar Bowl and the BCS Title Game a week later.

From the initial ticket sales it appears they aren't.

So this Hoolahan all but admitted;

"Va Tech has paid me off twice in the past and I know they will this time.  I can't count on you bribing me so why would I take that risk of the awkward part when I have to hint at you paying me a bribe?  I mean, I can only ask 'have you guys seen Mr. Benjamin around here' a few times before it gets weird."

It's his job to be a part of the good ol' boy network.  Him acting butthurt about there being one isn't helping him gain entrance.  Why the eff do we hire SEC people for every admin position if they aren't already members is what we should be asking ourselves.
