YES! Kapalua is probably the best place on Maui.

It was good, a little to hippy for me. The fish market restaurant on the corner was excellent

the back side of hana is kind of dirt road for a bit and there are some sketchy one lane bridges and stuff but it's really not bad.  it is less curvy than the front side which is painfully curvy.

Mrs. etp was very upset that i decided to drive the whole way around. i also further angered mrs. etp when i honked and yelled at some hawaiian cowboy on a horse who promptly flipped me off. :surprised:

view from room at Hyatt Kauai

lobby

Waimea Canyon (sp?)

ridic local market that we ate breakfast at every day, good wine/beer selection too.

Napali Coast, blew my mind the entire time.  It was massive.  Can't really see the scale via pics.

Another

View from Westin Room in Maui

Another with black rock in the background

Seven sacred pools

Thai food stand on road to Hana.  She asked me how spicy I wanted my red curry, I said super rough ridin' spicy.

This was my pumpkin red curry, it was much too spicy, I pretended like it wasn't like a boss.  mrs. dave's pad thai was excellent.

didn't get many pics of the roads on the backway of the road to Hana but this one kind of caught it.

funny sign at Honolua Bay where we snorkled (because there surf wasn't big)

Maui brewing beers

They had a ridic. amount of seasonals which was great

This is approximately where Mrs. ETP thought she was going to die.

We sat about 5 stools to your right. ETP had two sampler platters and bought two sampler 6 packs (in cans :frown: )

So we are heading to Oahu, Hawaii next week.  Any tips for fun activities with 3 boys 8, 10, 13?  My wife is not an outdoorsy person but will do some mild hiking.  The boys and I love to hike, run, bike, swim, kayak etc... We are taking surf lessons for a couple of hours on one day probably rent boogie boards or something and spend a day on the beach (but which beach?)  Probably hike Diamond head, spend half day at Pearl Harbor, spend half day or more at North Shore.  But looking for the more out of the way things to do that may be less touristy.

So do we snorkel with a guide or just rent the stuff and do it on our own?  That was also on our list to do.

on your own. it's super easy and pud because you're inside a collapsed volcano with coral blocking the waves and turtles and crap are all over your entire face. get there right when it opens.

Hanauma Bay is terrible. I almost drowned because I followed a stupid turtle out to the water break and my wife shook out my wedding ring on to the beach for some stupid retiree with a metal detector to find later.

Try buying something at every ABC Store in Honolulu. You will have quite the collection.

Also, I think Lanikai beach is the best on the island. Difficult to find parking unless you go early, but much less crowded and beautiful scenery. I would get paddle boards and try to make it out to the mokes in the morning if the water is calm.
