Hey guys, I just wanted to say hello from Arkansas and let you know that I am very much looking forward to our match-up in the Cotton Bowl. If you've started to visit the Arkansas boards I want to apologize for the vocal minority of Razorback supporters who are disappointed with the match up. I, for one, am thrilled about getting a top ten match up in prime time, on network television, in a bowl that has zero competition in its time slot. Both teams are disappointed about missing out of the BCS and there's no doubt that the Big XII and SEC deserved 3 bids each this year. But the rules are the rules as they say.
I don't follow football outside of the SEC as closely as I should, so I'm looking forward to learning more about y'alls team. I really like what I've seen out of Collin Klein though and I can tell you that he has the potential to be a nightmare matchup for us. We have not shown an ability to really contain mobile quarterbacks this year.
Our strengths are throwing the ball and special teams.
Tyler Wilson is a tough quarterback who has an incredible ability to stand in the pocket and take hits. He spends more time on his ass than I would like though as our offensive line is very green.
I believe that we have the best four deep at receiver in the country. Jarius Wright, Joe Adams, Cobi Hamilton, and Gregg Childs are all capable of having a 100 yard night at any time. Chris Gragg at the tight end spot has also had a 100 yard game this year against Mississippi State.
The running game has been suspect at times, but Dennis Johnson and Broderick Green have started to right the ship since recovering from major injuries. Knile Davis, our preseason All American has missed the entire season due to an ankle injury. There has been some speculation that he might play in the bowl game but it's pretty unlikely. As far as Broderick and Dennis go, BG is a big back who very solid in 3rd and 2 or less type situations. He's a very solid goal line back. Dennis is the every down back and he is very tough to tackle. He's short and thick and he's got great speed. A lot of people refer to him as a bowling ball. As long as he isn't fumbling the ball (which he has been known to do) he is a great back.
Joe Adams has returned a couple of punts for TD's this year and he is incredibly elusive. The aforementioned Dennis Johnson is one of the best kick returners in the game when he's healthy. Both Johnson and true freshman Marquel Wade have returned kickoffs for touchdowns this year.
Our linebackers are fast but undersized. Sometimes they tackle well, sometimes I'm not sure what's going on. Jerry Franklin is the leader of that unit but he's definitely playing out of position. He would have made a hell of a strong safety in my opinion.
The strength of the D line is the ends. Starters Jake Bequette (preseason all American) and Tank Wright both missed a good portion of the season due to injuries, but they're healthy now.
In the secondary, safety Tramain Thomas is the guy to look out for. He can really be a ball hawk.
Anyway, I'm happy to answer any questions about my team that y'all might have. I am really looking forward to seeing y'all in Arlington. Best of luck and here's to an injury free game.
Wooo Pig Sooie!
