The question asked in the original post and the responses to it demonstrate that KSU fans know very little about college football. A little research will show you that Arkansas has pretty strong program traditionally . . . far more accomplished than KSU. It's funny that I asked the same question about KSU, and I believe that this is a lose/lose situation for Arkansas. The fact of the matter is that this year both team have quality resumes, and this should be a great matchup. In fact, it will probably be a better game to watch than some of the BCS games. Both of these teams should be playing BCS games.
It is a shame that the discussion on this message board has turned into mean sterotypes and hateful generalization about entire classes of people and geographic regions. I have lived in quite a few places, and I can find value and beauty in all of them. Arkansas is a beautiful state with some of the smartest and most successful business people I've ever met. I would say that Northwest Arkansas where the University is located is one of the nicest places I've ever lived. Of course, there are bad, ignorant people everywhere I've been. I'm sure that stereotypes could be made about Kansas, and I'm also sure that if you live in Manhattan, KS, or attended the University, it is probably a great place to be.
Instead of authoring hateful posts, why not breakdown and debate the game without resorting to obscenities or slurs. Here's my take:
There is no debating that the Hogs have one of the most explosive offenses in the country . . . statistically the best in the SEC. Since finding a running game after the Alabama game, no one has been able to stop the Hogs. LSU held the Hogs in check in the 2nd half, but remember the Hogs were up by 14 on LSU in the first half and were only down by 7 in the 4th quarter until shooting themselves in the foot with multiple turnovers. The score was not indicative of the closeness of the game, although LSU was clearly the deeper, better team. It can also not be denied that Arkansas' defense has been a disappointment this year. Coming into the year, the defense was supposed to be much improved. The biggest problem has been the inability to stop the power run game and mobile QBs. That being said, the defense has gotten better since getting back a couple of injured stars. Arkansas looks to take advantage of K-State's weakness, a poor pass defense. Arkansas probably has 3 or 4 guys catching passes that will be playing on Sundays, and they will score points.
On the flip side of the coin, K-State will look to take advantage of Arkansas' weakness. If I were coaching against Arkansas, I would run it between the tackles on almost every play and throw just enough to keep the defenses honest. In several games, it seemed like teams were averaging a first down a carry. In the end, I think Arkansas will have another big play in special teams and just enough defense to win a shootout.
