I got this and added the tv tuner at the bottom:

It's sitting in the home office/MOAP2.5 guest room. Seemed to have good success salvaging stuff, including the original 10 long-lost oEMAW podcasts, from my crashed laptop onto this new thing. The idea is to save stuff I want saved on there but generally use my laptop for day-to-day stuff.
But I'd like to be able to record games on this new computer and learn to do some videoy stuff.
I see the little cable input nub on the back of the computer.
Right now, I've got a regular old-school tv in that room with cable split between that and the cable box that powers my phone and internet. In the other rooms, I've got cable going to Cox DVR boxes that get digital/HD tv going to the good TVs.
I don't really need to have that old tv in the home office room if I can get tv on the computer. The computer screen's almost as big as the tv.
If I take the cable that's plugged into the old tv and plug it into the computer, will the computer effectively be my old tv?
If I want to have the good channels and HD on the computer, do I need to run the cable through a Cox cable box en route to the computer?
In either scenario, how do I record tv on the computer?
Haven't touched this at all other than getting what I think is everything off the crashed computer onto the new one, and building a desk for it.
