Guys, that simply is not true. They play Tulsa this Friday. Tulsa is a pretty good team as well. If they hadn't played a brutal non-con schedule, they could be unbeaten also.

:dunno: Losses only to Oklahoma, Oklahoma St and Boise.

Really pulling for Oklahoma State to beat OU.  If that happens and K-State takes care of business...

OSU 11-1
KSU 10-2
OU 9-3

With all the upsets today and a few more that are certain to come in the next couple weeks, I've got a good feeling about the Fiesta Bowl if ^^^ unfolds

Yeah, I just can't understand how anybody can undersell a share of the Big 12, especially with a true round robin schedule.

I'm not big on share of the Big 12 because we lost to both of the teams we would be tied with.  Wouldn't feel right about claiming a share in a three way tie when the dirt burglars and Pokes both have head to head over us.  A win in the Fiesta Bowl would be huge for K-State, plus the payout is bigger for a BCS bowl than for any non-BCS bowl :kstategrad:

Aren't bowl payouts split evenly among Big 12 teams after travel expenses are paid, anyway?

I believe the team participating in the bowl keeps the lion's share of the payout (I want to say half but I'm not completely sure) while the rest is distributed among all nine teams

Think of all the  :kstategrad: the big 12 will have to throw around, with what 7 teams probably going bowling this year. If you take away the free loaders to the east everyone is making this a profitable year to be in the big 12.

It takes a KU for a 10 team conference to get 9 teams bowling, honestly. And that nine teams bowling comment goes out on the limb that Baylor will be Baylor against Tech after their huge win. It's likely, but "bank it" might have been extreme.

The team that attends the bowl gets to take its expenses out of the payout and the rest of the money goes to the confy to get split evenly.

Big XII 'ship would be better than any bowl by far. Can't believe we're even discussing it.

i know, don't understand people like this shacks loser.  how don't we deserve it, we'd have the same record as ou and osu.  we didn't beat them, but it's pretty impressive that the only 2 losses we'd have are to the other 2 co champs, not some loser schools like iowa state and tech.

Guess what?

NOBODY CARES. The hardware doesn't come with some asterisk on it. When we're pulling in 2-3 stars left in right to come on visits, you think they'll care? No, they will not. That's something 4-5 stars worry about ("did you win it outright? no? oh well then...blahblahblahpayme").

The only reasonable argument that can be made for not wanting the Big 12 co champ is that in that scenario, it will most definitely mean we don't get bcs bid, which could me a lot smaller payout (although Cotton bowl is nice) Since we are trying to un-K-State our stadium and put a hale library where the press box used to be, we could probably use the extra $4 mil.

The way I see it, of the 4 BCS at-large spots, the SEC definitely gets one, and Houston almost certainly gets the other (even if they lose to Tulsa, they'll probably finish top 16 and win their champioship, so the only way they don't get in is if they lose to Southern Miss in their championship).

So, that leaves two at-large spots up for grabs. Currently, those have to be held by Stanford/Oregon and Michigan.

So, we first need to open up one of those spots for OU/OSU/KSU, which means we need Michigan to lose Ohio State, or Oregon to lose to Oregon State. (Or, I guess, Houston loses to Southern Miss in champioship, but that's even less likely).

Then, we just need OSU to crush OU. If all that happens, the Cats are BCS bowling, right?

I wouldn't even be considering this, but for all the crazy upsets this past weekend.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Is it greedy of me to want both the confy and a BCS bowl? Cause I do and I think there's an outside chance for it. I'm guessing we're 10 or 11 in the new BCS rankings, and even if Boise St. and Houston both get at large bids that still leaves 1 spot after the 2nd SEC team. I've got to think we're a candidate for that over the CCG loser of the B10, ACC, or P12 and OSU with a 2nd loss to OU. It all depends on how we get ranked in the polls, but if some chips fall the right way we could be looking at as high a BCS ranking as 5 or 6 when you consider how many teams above or around us still have to play each other.
