For what it’s worth, the insider consensus predicts that Martin will stay at K-State and double his salary unless the perfect job comes along. He has done the heavy lifting already, turning Kansas State from a program with one NCAA Tournament appearance since 1993 when he took over to a national power.

This is exactly what happened in the situation with Huggins and Weiser.

Think of all the money we saved though!  We were able to buy saddles and spurs for our entire equestrian team, furnish our baseball post-season awards banquet with plaques and framed jerseys for graduating seniors and get a year's supply of Ace wrap for the track team!

You'd think, but there would need to be openings MUCH better than KSU for him to leave.  They were talking about this on 810 how he wouldn't even give a team like DePaul the time of day.  He's already done a 180 with KSU.  They are predicting his contract will be doubled at the end of the season and he will remain in Manhattan.

This is a particular issue with me. OB would rant and rave when he was re-hired, using mentoring (which I don't object to, by the way) and the equestrian team as his talking points with the media. What really "grinds my gears," as Peter Griffin would say, is that his daughter was on the equestrian team, and he was talking about how unappreciated and lacking resources that program was. OB came back with a $1.85 million salary - use some of that money to fund the freakin' equestrian team, you know? If it's really a priority, after all.

I wish Currie would get off his fracking high horse.

Presumably funded by the increased funding to the equestrian team, by the way.
