Welcome WVU Thread!
« on: October 28, 2011, 10:58:10 AM »
As most of you have heard, we have added the West Virginia Mountaineers to our fine conference.  This seems like a strange marriage to some but I'm here to tell you our similarities far outweigh our differences.  For example, West Virginians are a hard working folk, just like us Kansans.  Their Appalachian country is known for its beauty and was memorialized in a song by John Denver like our Amber Waves of Grain, another similarity.  Finally, they usually marry their brothers/sisters and have stupid inbred children.  Out of that list you have two similarities and only one difference!

Another thing West Virginians have in common with Kansans is their love of country and bluegrass music.  Religion is something we share as West Virginians are a god fearing breed of man.  However, unlike us, their economy is almost entirely crystal methamphetamine based.  Two more similarities and only one more difference!

I have an old couch out in my garage and that sumbitch is going up in flames when I get home from work tonight.  Hopefully I can burn it in a way that would make you all proud!!

Amen, SteveDave!

Like Kansans, the people of west Virginia work hard in their local export (coal.) they also love America! The only difference is that they absolutely love hate crimes. Again, just one difference!

Much like Kansans, West Virginians are a hearty people familiar with an unforgiving land and hard work.  They are also virulent racists.  Similar folks, with just a few differences!

A deep reverence for mother earth, a strong athletic program in a sparsley populated state and a crippling fear of technology/outside world.

66% similar!

Much like the Kansas Farmer burns his pasture in spring, the native West Virginian likes a good mountain (de) topping . . . fire equals good grass, a mountain without a top means good coal!!

Coal Aggies are very much like us Kansan, both hardworking and god fearing. The only difference I can see is that Kansan's dont have a tendency to get trapped in mines! 2 similarities and only 1 difference!

Like K-Staters, West Virginians take great pride in their university, the schools boast similar success in basketball and football, and while K-Staters are generally richer, better looking, healthier, and better fans than other fans in their own state, West Virginia fans enjoy butt-effing complete strangers if they aren't from around here.  Only that one difference though, more similarities than differences by my count.

Both states have scenic waterways and rivers.  Of course, in Kansas our water table is not flammable. Vive la difference!

Both of our football coaches, LHC Bill Snyder for Kansas State and Rich Rodriguez for West Virginia run some exciting spread offenses!  Both fans also enjoy "tailgating" before and after football games.  At these "tailgates" Kansas State fans prefer a healthy mix of fine spirits bottled across the globe and sold in stores while West Virginians prefer moonshine.

Two more similarities and only one more difference!

You will never see a sad face at a social gathering in either WV or KS.  However, in WV you will be knocked to the ground by the body odor stink at such events.  Other than smell it's basically the same!

Home to resourceful people a Kansan invented the first ICEE machine.  WVU is home to the first meth made in a pop bottle.

Do West Virginians have potlucks? What I'm asking, is when West Virginians have group functions such as family gatherings, do they all bring casseroles and crock pots?

Much like Kansas, West Virginia features absolutely no cities larger than 9 or maybe 10 thousand people!
Much like Kansas, West Virginia features absolutely nothing to offer tourists!
However, Kansas has Westboro Baptist Church, whereas on the other hand, West Virginia has The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia!
Two similarities and only one difference!

We're supposed to send a welcome gift, right?  Does Yankee Candle make a couch fragrance candle?  if not the grass one will have to do.

The love of hunting in both states yields a pride in coonskin hats in one, and the requisite pheasant tail hat in the other.

At halftime selected representatives of both states/schools will have a dead animal tail hat exchange at mid-field.

This just made me think of how Willie will handle his WVU pregame skit. Can you imagine Willie trying to tackle that bearded inbred maniac? I think the dude might get him confused with a rabid wild mountain lion and impale Willie with his rifle. Would make an exciting skit, tho!
