The subject matter of the column is fine, a bit dry for a nation column IMO. The issue is the classic Rick Reilly crap he throws in every column, the first paragraph and last sentence are completely unnecessary, corny, and inflammatory.

I have and like one of his books from his SI days. There is no more glaring example of how money chaged someone publicly, his writing style and tone has changed significantly since getting that huge ESPN contract.
