Would be interesting to see where he goes with his "I helped build this place, now I'm gonna tear it down" quote.

This. He's a traitor to EMAW.

Don't want.

Totally unrelated to this...

A friend of mine (that's a KU grad) at work knows all kinds of athletes at KU.  I don't know how, but he does.  Anyway, he texts me last night and says, "I have it on good authority KSU is seriously considering hiring Mangino.  Thoughts?"

I ask him about it this morning, and he says, "I just heard from my friend, a former KU player, that KSU is having very real discussions about hiring Mangino."  I then kind of blow it off, and he says, "Do you know who Mike Smith is?"  I say, "Yeah, he's our WR coach."  The then says, "My friend talked to him, and Mike Smith said there's a very real chance Mangino will be on the KSU sideline next season."

So, yeah, take it for what it's worth.

this rumor was on kusports a couple of weeks ago.

I love how everyone that writes an article about Mangino fails to mention he went 1-7 in conference his final year.

His performance only dropped off because the school made him stop physically and psycholocially abusing his players. How the hell is he supposed to get results out of those chumps without hitting them and being mean?

I helped build this place, then i helped tear it down and now i'm gonna build it up again. And then possibly eat it.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

Mangino isn't an enemy of anything other than the $7 large Gumby's pizza.

He serves his paycheck, and that is it.

Mangino beating the crap out of Gill's team in Lawrence would be epic as eff.

I (admittedly) worked at KU over the summer and BGL has some bad blood with Mangino and a hard on for Gill. It's pretty sad. I'm just glad we don't have her and her kum-by-yah equal opportunity crap flowing around here. I'm not saying gill got hired because he's black but it didn't hurt....

If this is true and you combine this with BGL's not giving a crap attitude, then I would feel very pessimistic if I were a KU fan.

I'm not making accusations against her, she is just extremely idealistic and constantly gets told "no" by the people with the $. She is a stereotypical ph.d product of the liberal education community. I think the only reason she fits in and works for KU is because they have the deep pockets to absorb her endeavors. If she were here we would be broke with nothing to show for it.

that sounds at least tangentially related

If there's any dissent on this board about Mangino's loyalty, then he's got no shot, because the 'tucks will magnify that by 1000.

Mangino will never be head coach at K-State.  He burnt that bridge with the "I helped build that place..." quote.

Think I'd rather have some young, black coach who had moderate success at some mid major school.

Leavitt, Mangino, Leach, Mike Stoops. We could coalesce all of the misanthropic psychopaths who have been cruelly cast off by their former schools into the greatest coaching staff of all time....

Pretty sure that staff wouldn't be as good as the 1998 staff.
