Fans, Players, AD and boosters were getting tried of his proud spiel.  With BFFHCMM it will be easy to lay blame for a losing record.  This will go on for a few years, and then guess what; MM you're fired.  By then he will have another spiel to keep him at ISU.

He's a good coach and a good hire for Rhoads, but he wasn't some sort of offensive guru. None of his offenses were better than Snyder/Dimel/Miller's from EACH of the last 3 years. 07 was Mangino's only offense at KU that was in the Top 30 in college football.

He was also at KU. 

Outside of the undeniably impressive work he did at KU, Mangino has a history of being a very capable assistant coach.
