ISU friend just texted me the news, ISU fans basically expecting a national title run because Mangino won it as OC of OU

Good hire, but didn't ku have to bring in an OC after a couple of years to really get their offense going with Reesing at QB?

I also recall that the OU offense kind of stalled out a little towards the end of Mangino's OC run there.

But, a pretty good hire for Iowa State.

Wow, that was from deep right field. I hope CMM has changed his ways with the players. To think he "wasn't interested" in the job. If successful, ISU will be looking for another OC in two to three years, I'm guessing; he'll get another HC job at a BCS level school.

Didn't see that one coming. Mangino certainly has the talent. Trust CPR that he has dealt with the other baggage.

Now that makes 2 Big 12 head coaches that have been "promoted" to being on our staff! Feels good.

Mangino has coached numerous players who have won honors including Heisman runners-up Josh Heupel and Michael Bishop, and Outland Trophy winner Jammal Brown. Mangino has coached 32 NFL players, 73 All-Big 12 players, and two players named "Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year." Over 20 of his former players are now coaching.

And here goes the season ticket record again........
I do believe that we'll break that one this year.

This dude figured out how to put together a dynamic Big 12 offense at KU just a few years ago. If he can do it there, he can do it here. I don't think there is anyone out there more qualified for this position than Mangino. My level of excitement for the future of our football program just went from 6 to midnight.

Poor Texas, this is really going to steal their thunder from the Charlie Strong announcement.

So...things are going remarkably well for the ol' Cyclone Athletic community right about now.

Best-case, dream scenario candidate all along IMO. Ten out of ten. Total disbelief and excitement from this Clone fan!

Yep, basically all my Jayhawk friends who care about football still think it was a huge mistake to let him go, much less by the AD at the time, Lew Perkins.

The whole chardonnay and caviar crowd in the KU alumni hated the guy and got him railroaded, despite the fact that he was the best coach they had in decades.

If anyone has a doubt that Rhoads has a big, brass set than this should answer it. I hope Mangino comes in ready to get 'er done, and flip a giant bird to KU and all his media detractors.

I wanted Mangino.  I guess you have to start at the bottom(ISU) to get to the top(CATS).  I would take him over Dana and Del in an instant.
