I wonder if those fans saw Miami @ Va Tech last weekend.  The strength of Va Tech's defense is their secondary...Miami torched them for 286 yards on just 14 completions (22 attempts) and 4 TDs....not to mention the 236 yards (6+ yards per carry) they put on the Hokies as well.

btw, Clemson's high powered offensive attack wasn't nearly as successful against Va Tech the week before.

Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

I think we'll find all the information we need on the secondary here in the next month.

Either you're being sarcastic or didn't read the part about how Va Tech's defense performed against Clemson's offense.

How does Va Tech suck if you're being realz?

Ranking of Va Tech's secondary at their position for the draft in their respective classes per nfldraftscout:

Exum - 16th (SS)
Whitley - 5th (FS)
Fuller - 9th (CB)
Hosley - 4th (CB)

Basically, you're not going to find a secondary outside of LSU and Alabama that the NFL has more respect for the collective talents.

But, yeah, their secondary sucks.

I think Garret is really good, Malone is good, and Zimmerman is solid (he seems really good against the run and maybe he would get burnt more if he and Hartman changed positions). Add on an improved dline that actually is a threat to get some pressure with a 4-man rush, and the secondary is going to look better. But I'm still terrified on every passing down. I think tech will pass for at least 350 on us, including some long passes/scores.

But don't forget that that was because of the pressure and general fear Arthur "Hungry Eyes" Brown put into him.

Yeah, our secondary is good when facing the pass about 25-30 times a game. What about 50-60?

doesnt really matter how good your secondary is if the quarterback has all day to throw.

our hope is that we hog the ball so much they don't get a chance to throw it 50-60. I'd say we can get it down to 30-40 attempts if our D can somehow keep Tech to 40% on 3rd down.

That's not really how they get down, though.  They prefer to dink and dunk.

comparing games..absolutely....but sometimes the statistics dont' lie. The defenses that rank below 80th right now just flat out suck and will for the remainder of the year......and the ones that are in the Top 25 are doing something right and may slip a little but they'll be good this year. VTech's passing D is pretty good..especially at home and Miami passed on it..........just my .02.
