I'm extremely sensitive about the choice of footwear of my football coach.

I really don't understand the point of an extension/raise.  Is he going anywhere?

No, he isn't going anywhere, but there are tangible reasons.

1) Recruiting.

2) Attractiveness of the job for the next coach.

If an extension/raise will do those things, give it to him.  It's not like the job isn't his until he retires anyway.  If we can get back to a perenial top-25 type team, we may be able to land a quality coach next time.  It's not like Snyder is bad for business, quite the contrary.

Wouldn't the attractiveness of the job depend more on what we would offer the next coach and not so much what we paid the old coach?

No, the thought is that players will be more comfortable signing with Bill if they believe he will be their coach for the full 4/5 yrs.  Obviously, an extension doesn't actually matter because Bill will be here as long as he chooses regardless, but it's supposed to look better to the outside.

Seems like Bill's situation could be used in a negative sense by other coaches.  "Don't sign with him, he won't be there much longer."  At least an extension could be used by our staff as proof that Snyds will be around awhile.  That's the thought process, anyway.

I remember when Bill was the 2nd highest paid coach in the Big 12 at like $2 million a year right before we hired Ron Prince.

Isn't Bill at about 2 mil/yr now?  Coaches get paid stupid money these days, adding a bit to his wouldn't be a bad thing.  We want potential replacements to think fondly of our program/AD.

Currie isn't going to give snyder a raise, the idea that he would even consider it is Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

$1.9 is pretty damn low.  If coaches think that's all we pay our GOAT, it will surely shrink the pool from which we have to choose from.

I don't think Keitzman understands that Snyder is only the 2nd year of a 5 year contract extension, and NO, he does not need an extension at this time.

BITB clearly said Snyder is in the 3rd year of his 5 year contract with 2 years remaining.  So, if you are correct about the contract, you are correct about his understanding.

He is definitely in year 3 of five.  Currie extended Snyder, Patterson, and Hill his first summer here.  This was a strong talking point of the Pay Frank campaign.

If Bill can get through the season without losing 3 out of 4 games in a row  (not kidding OU,OSU,UT,TAMU), pay the man (in butterscotch candy).

You act like only winning 1/4 against ranked teams is a sign of poor production.  I would be very happy with 2 wins in the stretch.  Super boner time with 3 wins.  Thats four week stretch is as tough as any team in the country will face.

And throw in the Pinocchio Director's Cut DVD and a high-grade edition of Tiddlywinks as a bonus.

We will pay when the time comes.  Coaches will know this.  Snyder could get more now if he wants it.  But he's 72 years old and, by and large, he seems to be totally focused on the youngsters at this point in time.

Yes, because anyone with a strong business sense would say:  "Hey, they're only paying their best coach, ever, less than 2 mil but I'm totally sure they will back up the truck for me."

I really can't imagine Snyder gives a eff at this point what his salary is. Perception to future coaches might be an issue though.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.
