We also need to quit with the WC crap on 3rd and 4th and short and just get right to the  :curse:
We also need to bring back the punt returner's name chant ASAP

Bet Baylor was pretty pleased we were bear clawing for them in tough situations.

yeah i'm not sure how this hand sign got going but it needs to be killed with fire immediately

we must turn our student section into amputees if necessary

the problem is that most of the students were really young during our glory years, so they've never been there.  Maybe this will be a week-by-week process, eventually eliminating the idiots via real-life PI?

10 years ago I could've never imagined a day where our fans would have to figure out how to cheer for football again. Going through that in basketball was tough enough.

I feel good about it, as long as people like Winterz are leading the charge.  Man up, kid.  It's your generation now.

"Back when I was in school the students cheered right!"

I feel like back in my day (the rough ridin' awful years of Ron Prince) we still had cheering figured out.   These Rookies were probably 5 or so when the Scheme Doctor was orchestrating victories.

Did anyone on here go to school during the beginning of the D0D, like from 90-93 or somewhere around there?  I'd like to hear about the transition in those days.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

99.9% of our students weren't even alive during our bball glory years, yet the basketball student crowds are amazing.   :dunno:

Winning is fun.  It is especially fun when it is relatively new.

It doesn't take as many people to have an amazing basketball crowd, though. If the students don't get better soon, I say we just reduce the size of their section and make more money. :cyclist:

<=== Was a freshman in 92.  Only missed one home game from 92-00.  Pretty much saw it all. :ksu:

So how did the crowds change between 1992 and then in 93 when we started winning?  Student crowds.  I started in 2000 and by that time people had their stuff together.

<--- probably cheered alongside nicname and maybe even hugged him at some point but I'm not sure because we seemed to hug a lot of strangers in 2000

Oh ya, well you couldn't obey the simple "down in fronts" being shouted from tucks at tables at Top of the Tower Saturday.  JFC, I swear you and Iceman were the target of many tucks scorn.

I got an ICAT ticket for the Baylor game (I'm a couple years removed from the university), and also noticed a relatively tame environment. Not that the crowd was spectacular during my years either, but all the students couldn't figure out you step back and sit down, not sit where you stand. That and I had to shove people to get their attention for a high five, nobody seemed excited. Maybe I just happened to sit around a bunch of non-caring faux-LM'ers

It was a totally different atmosphere back then.  There was such a buzz of excitement in the air it is hard to describe.  You could just feel the team, program, everything improving.  We did have to learn how to cheer, but it didn't take long.  I can remember  that we would tear down the goalposts for any victory, and we were damn good at it too.  I mean, we tore them down after a thursday night ESPN victory over Iowa State for Christ sakes.  We could have both goalposts down in about 15 minutes.  The more we won though, the more we acted like we had been there and eventually it stopped until we finally beat Nub in 98.  You would show up to tailgate and park where ever you wanted to on the East side.  Go in 15 minutes before kickoff and get great seats in GA 10-15 rows up on the 35 or 40(we always made fun of ICAT and back then it was only $20).  Everyone was usually pretty paked because nobody gave a eff about booze in the parking lot.  We knew how to cheer though.  There were no gay ass claw hand signals just raw intensity.  We were deafening on defense and quiet on offense except for after big plays.  Very few left early, win or lose, especially during conference games.  We always felt like we had a chance and wanted to relish every victory.  I was at the Copper Bowl against Wyoming.  We had bought our tickets through the bowl and our seats were in the lower level around a bunch of locals.  They were just amazed at the excitement  and intensity that we expressed on every play.  By the end of the game they were counting Willie's pushups and doing the KSU chant with us.  We even had them Wabashing.  They said they came to the game every year and we were the best fans they had ever been around. Like I said, it was a different atmosphere.  Everything was new.  First winning.  Then, knowing you had a chance and hoping to win.  Finally, flat out expecting to win.  Stadium expansions and upgrades seemed to happen every year, the creation of the big twelve, caused even more excitement and expectation.   I guess students now are kind of going through the same thing.  I supppose the difference is that when I went through it, there was no precedent.  We had never been good.  Gameday had never been there.  We hadn't beaten NU or OU or UT for eleventy billion years.  I guess while the team was learning how to win, we were learning how to cheer.  You guys kind of need to learn again I guess.  My only suggestions would be to pack the house every weekend with purple (any kind of purple, who cares what a bunch of idiots on a message board say about proper game attire).  Be loud as hell.  Cheer for the team.  Get rid of that little douchebag claw thingy.  Lynch Mob sign is cool as long as we are ACTUALLY LYNCH MOBBING.  Don't leave early, regardless of the outcome.  Most of all, just be proud to be a Wildcat.  I'll probably get railed and called a tuck for most of this but that's the nice thing about having been there, I don't care! :ksu: :lynchmob:

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that we NEVER sat down.  EVER.  (except at halftime if we weren't out in the parking lot paking). (And we didn't call it paking back then but Ikinda like that term)  And we didn't high five a whole lot on scores, it was usually a rough ridin' massive dog pile.

I was there with schreds.  Specifically, I was there from '91 to '95 and attended the Copper Bowl as well.  Never missed a home football or basketball game during my tenure (and that included some not so good basketball with Dana "Porn 'Stache" Altman).  The difference in the football student section between '91 to '94 was astounding.  I do not understand why the students aren't coming back into the game after halftime now.  The north end of the student section is sparsely full after halftime.  There is plenty of time to pak after the game.  I just don't get it.

I feel very vindicated that I'm not tucking out too bad in this thread.

I really hope K-State lets people start to crowd surf again.  I would be EEO if K-State allowed it.

Things we need back ASAP:
1) Punt Chant

2) Getting loud on 3rd down before they get to the line, and especially when its obvious they are changing the play.

3) Sitting back, not down

The glory days...but '02 and '03 were amazing.
