Yep.  Stoops' coaching tree has about, what, 6-7 guys that were able to parlay their coordinator position into a HC position within about 3-4 years?  (Mangino, Wilson, Long, Leach, Stoops, Sumlin, etc).  Yet, Venebles is still here 7 years after being named coordinator.
I cringe at those that think he'd be a strong solution for KU after Gill (assuming it doesn't work out with him).  I think there are a lot better candidates that would take the job.
