watched the Al Golden press conference...
« on: September 21, 2011, 09:58:22 AM »
he said, "I turn on the tape and their defensive lineman, no. 95.  He's making a lot of plays.  He's better than the two we faced last week and we thought they were pretty good.  This Kibble kid can play.  He's a really good player".

The other two players he mentioned for KSU specific are Arthur Brown and Klein.

Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

Kibble has been solid.  Sure wish Tillman's situation would clear up so he could get some snaps beside Kibble.

It's cleared up.  He's on the team and available.

Yeah, saw he's back on the roster.  I'm just wondering if he missed much practice and if he will be able to actually contribute any time soon.

Kibble looks like a completely different player this year.  I watched him a lot last year and the ability was there but he didn't use his hands effectively and you're pretty much dead at that position if you don't use your hands.  Completely different this year the way he shoots his hands and he has a more impressive get off this year.  Everything about his game has improved.

I actually saw a poster on this site the other day refer to Kibble as "small"....he's listed at 305 and I wouldn't be surprised if he weighed a little more than that.  Nothing small about him.  I just wish we had a stud 3 technique beside him.  Kibble and Arthur Brown certainly are not the reasons I'm very concerned about how we'll fare this week vs. Miami's running game.

Well, before we start sucking Kibble off, we should probably consider the quality, size, and depth of the offenses we've played so far.  Lots of dude have looked good against weak non-con teams and went on to struggle against the meat of a schedule.

Was surprised at Kibble's pursuit speed last week on his sack.

True, nice speed and hustle but I'm not sure he chases down Harris from behind on that play.

if you know what you're looking for when you watch a defensive lineman it really doesn't matter about the competition.  Trust me, he's a superior player to what he was a year ago.  I think he's a fairly capable pass rusher from inside as well.

My favorite D-Lineman is Meshak because (a) his name is Meshak and (b) he looks completely badass in his uniform.  Completely bad. ass.

Kibble has been a lot better and that has helped a ton. But the increase in our team speed on defense, especially in the front 7, is night and day. Of course a lot of that is ABrown who makes plays all over. Really makes an amazing difference in what we can do. That said, I am curious to see how we handle Miami's running game, which has a lot of the same power/zone concepts that we use with 2 back sets.

We have played Kent St and Eastern Kentucky  :blank:

If we hold Miami under 28 I'd be stunned.

We are going to have at least 28 scored on us because our abilities have been inflated due to bad competition to date.

I'm more worried about the offense than the defense. Yeah we've only played Kent and EKU, so the numbers are inflated, but holding them to 7 and 0 points isn't like last year when we gave up 24 to Missouri St. But the offense only scoring 10 and 37 is a concern. If the offense puts the defense in bad spots, it'll be >28. But if the offense doesn't I think our defense holds them under 28 (regardless of win or loss).

This is a given. As well as Tyson Hartman being burned badly by a play action pass.
