I personally think road cyclists are fairly odd people, but not awful like hipsters on fixies. I know a road commuter that wears a full tights suit and clip shoes for a 3 mile ride each way. I think I went through my cyclist classifications in this thread already.

At least the road cyclists generally wear helmets and obey traffic laws for the most part (except the 4-way stop by my house. :curse:)

I'm a loner roadie. I find that the bike clubs in Louisville are full of asshats. So I just do my own thing.

Meanwhile ben ji is blazing down the sidewalk hopping curbs to cross streets and slamming it down dirt trails behind the quicktrip. What is that? A drainage ditch? eff it, i'm going in because I have a Magna and this bike can handle anything.

I never ride either of my bikes.. Went through a stage where I did.. Now it just seems like a hassle

Same.  I bought a Schwinn when I enrolled at KSU.  Rode it constantly in college.  It is still in very good shape and is a nice smooth ride, but I have rode it like 5 or 6 times since school.

You rode a bicycle in college.  You sorry bastard.  That is hands down the loseriest thing you can do.  You seem to have rebounded decently in old age, but man.
I rode one to school periodically too. Mainly on nice days and because I refused to buy a parking pass. lived close enough to bike but far enough not to walk.

Same.  Chase.

You live too far away from campus to walk?  That is hands down the loseriest thing you can do.

Sometimes the lines get blurred when your commute is also a workout.

Yeah, you're a moron if you don't wear a helmet. I mean like the dumbest of the dumb. why on earth would you not wear one?

I'll give the roadies that, they ALWAYS have a helmet on.

Wear a helmet while riding a bicycle?   My word, I've heard it all now.

well if you don't wear a helmet some pavement may soon enter your mind. (I think we may have created a PSA right there)

anyone ever bounced their head off the pavement?  I did it as a kid (with helmet) and that's about the most helpless feeling split second I've ever had in my life.  team helmet man.

The one time it saves your life is worth the 10,000 times you look like a dork. And honestly, you don't look THAT bad in it. In fact, I was thinking about how that needs to change. Why are people who don't wear helmets not the dorks? Gonna start calling all non-helmet wearing cyclists "dorks" as I pass them by.

There have been some pretty big advancements in helmet technology too. These things are becoming really popular around here...

Dude got spooked by some dogs a couple of years ago at the end of my neighborhood. Lost his balance and whacked his head on the pavement. He died within a week from the swelling and fluid. I always think about him when I see someone tooling along without a helmet.
