CycloX and Road. I did CycloX in college a bit but kind of stopped because of the time/money commitment it takes (not many local events). I did some road riding events like the Tulsa Tough 100k a couple times but since i've been in the UK and don't have my bike i haven't been riding.

My main bike is a Trek XO1. Swap out Road/CycloX tires out as needed.

rented beach cruisers on Mission Beach in San Diego and road bikes in Napa for a drunken wine tour on bike.  Both were pretty great.  Other than that I haven't been on a bike since I used to make sdbro lay on the groud so I could jump him on my BMX.

I have the cheapest trek combo bike and I love it. I mostly use it for streets and paved trails, but I can get on an easy-going dirt trail if I have to. Not sure if I'd consider myself a cyclist, though.

Have also rented beach cruisers at mission beach.

All three...though I don't have a cross bike set up right now.  Ride a steel Redline 29er off road and have been commuting on a singlespeed Swobo del Norte lately.  Really starting to get addicted to the steel frames...must be my old bones creaking.  Next time you're in SF, rent a bike at the wharf, take it across the bridge and around through Sausalito and then to Tiburon.  Ride the ferry back to the city.

Had an old Trek Steel frame that i converted to single speed, freewheel. Put CycloX tires on that bad boy for a while and used it as my cross bike. That will make you a man (not 40 though).

Got into it my last semester. I practiced with the KSU team but never competed in a race.

Kind of OT. I live in the city now and kind of ish want to get a bike but like 90% of people who ride bikes look stupid and I don't want to look completely stupid.

Is this possible?

what do you mean stupid?  Clothing or gear or what? What city are you in by the way?

I've been raving about Big Poppi in Manhattan here.  Good bikes at good prices.  The mechanics know their stuff.

Chicago. All the people riding road bikes just look way too into it with their super narrow tired road bikes and all that. I would just want a regular bike that is still good for riding ont he street, those exist right?

Looking into getting a bike and need some advice as to whether I should just grab one at walmart or go to a bike shop. I literally know nothing about bikes and have not had one since freshman year of college.

- This will be for exercise and cruising the neighborhood
-It will be a mountain bike, none of that panzy skinny tire nonsense
-I will not ride on roads with it, only sidewalks and sweet jumps
-I do not want to spend more than a couple hundred dollars
-I will not wear a helmet

Please provide any suggestions of bike models/types as well as any places to purchase said bikes in the kansas city area.

Yeah, don't wear a helmet. Not only do you look cool, but your head bouncing off the pavement after you get hit by a truck or something will look super cool in slo-mo.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.
