i get kind of worn out taking a 100 mile drive in my car.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

It's a five-hour day for me with a stop for a quick lunch. I like it too.

Doing my next big climb outside of Ventura, CA the first week of October.  6000'+ of elevation in just over 30 miles and then descending.  There are options to add to the elevation if I get to the top in a timely manner.  Will have to be a wait and see decision as the ride will be the morning/early afternoon of my fly home day.  A little nervous about the bike rental, hoping I get one that fits well and I can ride well.

Now that sweat season is over I might actually use it?

Alexander how did your crazy climb ride go?

Also, I biked a thing in western NC. It was pretty amazing scenery.

Ride went really well.  Tried to ride it slightly conservative not doing it before and not wanting to run out of steam and turn back.  Had a monster head wind the first half of the climb which slowed us.

The guide (owner of the bike shop where I rented the bike) kept on telling me I was putting a hurtin' on him and that he was surprised a big boy from Texas could ride so well on a climb.  I am not huge anymore by any means just about 35lbs heavier than him at the same height but lots of leg muscle.  I just thought it was him being nice and building up the ego a bit of a paying customer.  Well, I followed him on Strava and it turns out that we did the ascent and descent of Pine Mountain summit in the 3rd fastest time he had ever done it.  He does this ride sometimea a couple times a week.  I was a bit shocked for sure as he used to race on the US National team.

I should have started cycling at a much younger age and also I will be returning to ride Ojai again.  Tons of road, gravel and mountain biking and the town itself is awesome.

Damn fine work on your climb then!

And my ride was my first trip to Tsali in western NC.  Fantastic weather, absolutely crushed me.  About 2100 ft of climb over 18 miles.  Not ready for that, but working on fitness.

Awesome job man.  Only person that would ever scoff at that type of elevation in that distance has never climbed before.

I don't know what it is about climbing but I can not get enough.  So damn tough but so much more enjoying to me.

I'd rather be in the hills than a flat ride.  I get bored.

Nice rides guys

Anybody here ride titanium?  Wanting to pick up another bike and have been leaning that direction.  Have in mind a dual purpose bike.  Looking at a gravel build with disc breaks.  Then want to pick up a 2nd set of super stiff alloy wheels for doing road climb/mountain summits.  This way I can get into gravel grinders and hopefully keep myself more into riding during the winter.

Looking at Moots or Mosaic currently but am willing to listen to other advice if someone has experience.

Friend in MHK went with a custom Ti bike.  Sounded pretty involved with fitment and such.  The frame is absolutely gorgeous, everything down to the welds for the bottle cage holder are art.  I can ask what company he used, I thought it was out of Colorado in some level of production.

That would be neat if you asked.  Both the companies I mentioned are out of CO.

Black Sheep, Erikson (original founder of Moots), and Oddity would probably be my go to for custom Ti builds. Lust worthy.
