That's a great drive. Not sure about that climb though on a bike! Nice work.

F yes Alexander!  That is a beast climb.  I've often wondered about the nuts who make that climb as I drive past them in the summer time.

Do any of you ride with a GoPro? If so, which one? What mount?

I don't often but I've taken my 3 black before.  I have an aluminum kedge mount for my Garmin that doubles as a GoPro mount off the handlebars.  I like it because it's pretty stable picture, decent sound recording.  I only have the front tire in the frame a bit.  Really nice compared to some of those chest rigs that so many point too low.  I'm never getting a gyro mount, so this works for my needs.

Thanks.  I was less nervous riding it than driving it actually.  Only had 1 vehicle not give me enough space, a dump-truck with the road crew.

Yes, everyone that I have spoken to in regards to this has confirmed I am nuts.  The guy at the park entrance that I talked with and then had snap a pic of me with my bike at the top still thinks I am nuts.  He was in disbelief when I reached the topmost turnout at the same time as him.

It is pretty cool how many people clap and cheer you on as you go by though the closer you get to the top.  That is not a feeling I will soon forgwt.

Alexander,
I'm kinda surprised the guy at the park entrance hadn't seen more people make it.  Seems like there are a number of crazy freak cyclists there.  When I was last there a few years ago there was a small group just starting up and 2 or 3 coming down.  I wonder what the strava kom is on the way down, especially their top speed.

Great accomplishment.  I'm glad to hear visitors support it.  I bike in an extremely busy park in the mid Atlantic and people are not as kind in the park.

There's a nice climb here that is closed in the winter, and after clearing the snow in the spring they keep it closed to cars for a few weeks. I rode it for the first time this year. Beautiful climb and was a blast to bomb down the narrow twisty descent, but don't want to ride it with the tourist traffic.

Jealous of that elevation. I love being above the tree line.

Yeah, I probably phrased it poorly.  Not a park ranger/worker, just a random tourist that struck up a conversation with me as I was kitting up at the Beaver Meadows visitor center right before the park entrance.

I did pass 2 cyclist heading my direction and about 6 oncoming.  Not an abundance of idiots out there doing it but enough of us.

Very cool pics!

What a stage that was, too.  Porte was gone shortly after these pics, correct?  And Rigo winning with only his 53 X 11!

Yeah, Porte went down shortly after the summit. Lot of carnage on this stage.

Fall cycling is coming quickly. I could have used some arm warmers this morning.

Lost 5lbs water weight on my ride this morning, won't be needing arm warmers for quite some time down here...

Finally kept my riding up through the summer to be able to ride the Hotter'N Hell 100 next weekend.  Usually 10,000-14,000 ride this so that will be a little bit of an experience in its own.
