Got some midweek saddle time near Cinci. Took a ride on the Little Miami Trail (16 miles in 60 minutes). Pretty nice Rails to Trails pathway. I'll definitely try another section when I'm in the area again.

Anyone have a single speed 29er?? I want one. Thoughts??? Experience?? Regrets??? Thinking going with the Nashbar 29er SS which has good reviews also pondering getting a Chinese carbon frame and building one up, but I have lil (no) experience in such things.

if you are going with a single speed, you should go with steel, imo. and not Nashbar.

wut???

i mean.  single speeds bikes, aren't they really for city riding?  the big advantage is less weight?

lot of mtbr's ride single speed. the weight advantage is obvious, but people also like it for the simplicity. no shifting, just legs. plus they are super fun.

i know that some riders do, i'm sure it's just superb if all that you're doing is single track prairie riding pussy crap.

the weight advantage to a single speed is negated as soon as you make the decision to buy a 29 inch bike, at that point the only reason you're doing it is because you think it looks good with your vest and wingtips w/o socks.

know a lot of riders around here (READ: Not prairie riding pussy crap) who go with single speed. i've had friends ride Moab on single speed. there is also this...

the fact that you are riding a 29er doesn't change the fact that it provides a weight benefit. don't really get what you are going after here, but you are wrong.

you know what's even lighter than a single speed bike?  a single wheel bike, also no seat, and no pedals.  #letsdothis  #feather  #worldchampionships

guys, i almost died tonite.  was doing a 30 mile ride and at mile 23, the great equalizer hit.  it also hit at miles 24 & 25.  fortunately i was riding a trail with an abundance of parks and port-o-potties.  it is impossible to keep your butt puckered while pedalling.  called the wife to pick me up at mile 28 and i never want to experience that again.
