Do you guys have a QB as tough as Collin Klein? Do you have a WR corps that includes players as good as Chris Harper and Li'l Baby Lockett? Do you have a special teams unit that clowns opposing teams every week? Do you have an LB as good as Arthur Brown?
LOVE this talking point. "Man, our players are just as good as you guys. JUST as good. We just don't have the coaching." Just as good doesn't give up 59 points two years in a row at home.
Again, I said the same f*cking thing about three or four years ago after KU just prison-raped Ron Prince and Co, 52-21. For example:
Do you guys have a QB as tough as Todd Reesing? Do you have a WR corps that includes players as good as Dezmon Briscoe and Kerry Meier? Do you have a special teams unit that clowns opposing teams every week? Do you have an LB as good as James Holt?
LOVE this talking point. "Man, our players are just as good as you guys. JUST as good. We just don't have the coaching." Just as good doesn't lose three games in a row to KU.
I mean, I said this exact same thing to Terry Pierce like four years ago, and looking back on it, he was right. He pointed out that the schemes for K-State were awful, and that with a coach like Mangino, KU was able to expose those weaknesses. Does KU have a Colin Klein right now on the roster? No, but they've got two pretty highly ranked dual-threat QB's in this recruiting class, and some talented freshmen/sophomores currently on the roster. Guys like McDougald and Opurum were 4-star recruits with offers to programs like Notre Dame and Ohio State, and played really well in their first year under Mangino.
All I'm saying is that there's not some huge gap in talent between KU and K-State. Yeah, you guys have more talent at certain positions and are much better coached, but KU has actually recruited pretty well at certain positions over the past few years. I mean how can you look at the results between Prince/Mangino and Snyder/Gill and think otherwise?
