Will Braden Wilson take snaps at TE or H back?
« on: August 24, 2011, 08:36:26 PM »
He can run, and is bigger than Tannahill, isn't he?

In the off-season, IIRC, some were saying he was a potential NFL draft pick.

This board gives BW a lot of flack, but the guy is pretty good.  I know it's cliche and stuff, but some of his hits, especially his freshman season, were incredible.

I'm #teambraden and not ashamed to admit it.  Fatty, there's definitely some room if you'd like to hop on board too.

Kiper has him currently as the #2 fullback for his draft class.  Nfldraftscout has him listed #3.

I was chatting with a guy in the Chiefs organization about a month ago...said Braden's a definite pro.

LOL. Only one true fullback was taken in last years draft. In addition, half of the NFL's top 10 fullbacks (Sporting News) in 2010 were converted from other positions and that percentage goes up the further you go down the list. Assuming that the #3 ranked fullback coming out of college is a "definite pro" is ridiculous.

if he isn't drafted he will make it on a roster.  Did Braden steal your woman or something.  I guess I don't understand your bone with this guy.

He sucks and everyone thinks he is good. We'd be much better off putting Brown and Pease or any other combination of two runners in the backfield. I'd say maybe use Braden on the goal line or in short yardage situations but he usually either gets in the way or runs through the hole and into the endzone without touching anyone.

Also, 5 FBs were taken in the 2011 draft, and I would imagine several more signed FA contracts.  Ks, Ps, and LSs also don't get drafted much, yet every team carries them on the roster.  And the fact that so many NFL FBs are converted from a different position actually strenghtens Braden's case as a future pro.  The fact is, there aren't many true FBs available so being one of the best of those available makes you more valuable, not less.

No, because they are usually converted from TE's which means they have skills such as catching and running with the ball. NFL teams like their fullbacks to be able to do things other than smash their heads into people.

So then your beef is with the fullback position and not BW, in particular?  Did you have this much disdain for Travis Wilson, Goolsby and Mann?

They were all much better than Braden but got less credit. Braden averaged 1.1 ypc for 8 yards last season.

But I know, I know he "blew some people up" or whatever.

Braden Wilson

As with most of you, I'm a huge fan of Braden Wilson, the toughest man on the planet. I got bored tonight, so I recycled some old favorites about Chuck Norris, and present these for your consideration:

- Braden Wilson is 1/8th Cherokee. This has nothing to do with ancestry, the man ate a f*cking Indian.

- In fine print on the last page of the Guinness Book of World Records it notes that all world records are held by Braden Wilson, and those listed in the book are simply the closest anyone else has ever gotten.

- The chief export of Braden Wilson is pain. He imports nothing.

- Braden Wilson is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.

- The Great Wall of China was originally created to keep Braden Wilson out. It failed misserably.

- Crop circles are Braden Wilson's way of telling the world that sometimes corn needs to lie the f*ck down.

- Braden Wilson once ate an entire ream of rice paper and shat out origami swans and Mister Miyagi from Karate Kid.

- Braden Wilson is ten feet tall, weighs two-tons, breathes fire, and could eat a hammer and take a shotgun blast standing.

- Braden Wilson is a man of few words. Braden Wilson is not a man of few full body blows to linebackers.

- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse actually live in Braden Wilson's nutsack.

- Braden Wilson put humpty dumpty back together again, only to pound him into scrambled eggs. Later Braden dined on those eggs with all the king's horses and all the king's men. The king himself could not attend for unspecified reasons. Coincidentally, the autopsoy revealed the cause of death to be a deadly lead block. There is only one King.

- When Braden Wilson played golf for money, he marked down a hole in 0 every time, a pro at the golf club, said to Braden: "excuse me sir, but you cant score zero on a hole". Braden Wilson turned towards the man and said, im Braden Wilson, the man then proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting blocked by Braden Wilson.

- Braden Wilson made Ellen Degeneres straight.

- Braden Wilson kicked Neo out of Zion , now Neo is "The Two"

- Braden Wilson's iPod came with a real charger instead of just a USB cord

- Braden Wilson knows where Carmen Sandiego is.

- Rudolph has a red nose because he got lippy and Braden Wilson made him pay

- China was once bordering the United States, until Braden Wilson pounded it all the way through the Earth.

- Braden Wilson is what Willis was talking about

- If you have five dollars and Braden Wilson has five dollars, Braden Wilson has more money than you.

- Braden Wilson sent Jesus a birthday card on December 25th and it wasn't Jesus’ birthday. Jesus was to scared to correct Braden Wilson and to this day December 25th is known as Jesus' birthday.

- When Braden Wilson had surgery, the anesthesia was applied to the doctors.

- Braden Wilson once broke the land speed record on a bicycle that was missing its chain and the back tire.

- Multiple people have died from Braden Wilson giving them the finger.

- Braden Wilson once tried to wear glasses. The result was him seeing around the world to the point where he was looking at the back of his own head.

- Pee Wee Herman got arrested for masturbating in public. The same day, Braden Wilson got an award for masturbating in public.

- Once a grizzly bear threatened to eat Braden Wilson. Braden showed the bear his fist and the bear proceeded to eat himself, because it would be the less painful way to die.

- If Braden Wilson is late, time better slow the f*ck down

- Braden Wilson sleeps with a night light. Not because Braden Wilson is afraid of the dark, but the dark is afraid of Braden Wilson

- Braden Wilson can touch MC Hammer. And MC Hammer will die

- Braden Wilson ordered a Big Mac at Burger King, and got one.

- Braden Wilson always has sex on the first date. Always.

- A Handicap parking sign does not signify that this spot is for handicapped people. It is actually in fact a warning, that the spot belongs to Braden Wilson and that you will be handicapped if you park there.

- Braden Wilson frequently donates blood to the Red Cross. Just never his own.

- There is no such thing as tornados. Braden Wilson just hates trailer parks.

- Braden Wilson does not procreate, he breeds

- When asked what type of vehicle he drives, Braden Wilson responded slyly with "Don't you mean what kind of vehicle drives me?"

- Braden Wilson' evil twin brother, Richard Simmons, once approached Braden with the hope of reconciliation, but at the sight of Richard's curly, well kept hair, Braden Wilson became so enraged that he turned green with hate and ripped Richard Simmons arms and legs off. This action was the origin of the Marvel Comic badass, The Incredible Hulk.

- Braden Wilson invented water.

- Braden Wilson went looking for a bar but couldn’t find one. He walked to a vacant lot and sat there. Sure enough within an hour an a half someone constructed a bar around him. He then ordered a shot, drank it, and then burned the place to the ground. Braden Wilson yelled over the roar of the flames, “always leave things the way you found em!”

- One time while sparring with Wolverine, Braden Wilson accidentally lost his left testicle. You might be familiar with it to this very day by its technical term: Jupiter.

- Braden Wilson is Luke Skywalker’s real father.

- Braden Wilson isn’t lactose intolerant. He just doesn’t put up with lactose’s hullabaloo.

- Braden Wilson doesn’t eat. Rather he kicks ass until he’s full.

- Scientists in Washington have recently conceded that, if there were a nuclear war, all that would remain are cockroaches and Braden Wilson.

No, most are not converted TEs.  Most fullbacks see the football in the NFL once every lunar eclipse.  They are not drafted or on rosters for their abilities as rushers or receivers...if they can do that it's a bonus.  They're battering rams, period.  the best right now is Vonta Leach.  Most are like him...short, squatty dudes.

hilarious.  Goolsby missed a ton of blocks.  He was big and fat and liked to dance so everybody thought he was good.  Travis Wilson isn't the athlete Braden is...Vic Mann had better running skills but that is about it.  Are you seriously breaking out the rushing stats for Braden?  That is relevant.

he blocks well and does his job (which isn't to carry the ball)

Yeah hayseeds love him, but like someone else said that's not his fault. He is solid and should be out there semi regularly

Re: Will Braden Wilson take snaps at TE or H back?

And the fact that so many NFL FBs are converted from a different position actually strenghtens Braden's case as a future pro.  The fact is, there aren't many true FBs available so being one of the best of those available makes you more valuable, not less.

No, because they are usually converted from TE's which means they have skills such as catching and running with the ball. NFL teams like their fullbacks to be able to do things other than smash their heads into people.

So not at all like 6'3" Braden Wilson.

he's 6'2.5 and about 260lbs at the moment.  He'll probably tack on another 10-15 for the league.  I'm guessing 6-2.5 270-275 isn't squatty?
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

Kiper has him currently as the #2 fullback for his draft class.  Nfldraftscout has him listed #3.

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/players.php?genpos=FB&draftyear=2013&sortby=tsxpos&order=ASC

How do you quantify a "much better fullback"?  If you're using ypc, then you're comparing apples to oranges, because in those days, we ran the triple option about every fifth play.

I agree that some of the tards go a little too gaga over BW (see trim's post), but the guy is a good fullback and deserves to be credited as such.
