The Good: Kansas has two good college towns. Lawrence (University of Kansas) is one of the 10 best college towns in America. And Manhattan (Kansas State) is, despite its depressing name, apparently a good place to retire young. Kansas is the prototype of what you think about when someone mention's America's sprawling vastnesses of corn and whatnot. It's Kansas. It is what it is. Dorothy's from there. Y'know. Kansas. You can go see this.
The Bad: What's the matter with Kansas? A whole hell of a lot. There's lots of religious nuttery. And then even more religious nuttery. Some folks in the state don't think too much of reproductive rights. It's flat as hell, its amusement parks are abandoned, and it's full of tornadoes. The Kansas part of Kansas City is boring, including those snobby jerks in Overland Park. And while Dorothy might be from Kansas, the state isn't very nice to her friends. And, you can go see this.

About the only thing I disagree with is that Lawrence is one of the 10 best college towns in America. Everything else is pretty much spot on.

nailed it. on I70, manufacturing jobs, homeless, everybody on hardcore drugs, bunches of strip clubs, etc.

Lawrence is basically junction city but with a college and two walmarts instead of just one.

It meant top 10 college towns in Kansas, no?  I have to agree with it on that.  I mean, a few JUCO towns are better but Lawrence is better than most of them.

Agreed.  Lawrence is definitely better than Topeka, but not as good as Lindsburg.

Not to mention, Hutch has them beat educationally and in the arts due to their access to museums.  I mean, you can go underground or into space there.

Pretty much spot on.  I hate KU, but I've had better Saturday nights on Mass St. than I have in the Ville.  True story.  The rest of the state is depressing as hell, and I wonder why the hell anyone in their right mind would come back after having lived somewhere else.
