Get ready to deal with delusion on the grandest scale possible when dealing with aggie fans if we play them.

There is no larger gap in sports between what the aggies think they are and what the reality of the standings every year say they are.

I don't know, Nebraska fans may give them a run for their money.

We have a thread on here w/people talking about how our current team is really a 10-win team and that anything short of the conference 'ship game next year will be a disappointment.
lol you still are cheering for the Seattle supersonics.  Dont preach on delusional

Not far from reality, had the lead in the 4th vs OSU/WVU and if we would've scheduled like Snyder 1.0 (aka no stanford) we had the chance at 11. Of course that didn't happen and we were mediocre this year but it is the youngest team in Snyder history. It's ok to be optimistic about the next couple years especially with the current strength of the conference. Or you can crap on it, that way if we're good you can be happy and if we're bad you can be smug it's whatever.

Should Tech, Texas and ISU be rounding up their close losses to KSU?  We're certainly not going to entertain that those games could've been lost.

Agreed, if everyone we beat stays in their lane or gets worse, and if osu and western virginia can slide down to that level too, there's the 'ship berth.

If you think we need to schedule wins then that says it all.  So small timey.

Being AD at KSU must be the easiest gig in the world.  Fans will just just happily lap up garbage.  That's how you end up with 200 wins where barely 10 of them meant that much.

We were basically undefeated guys. Schedule screwed us.  So unfair to have to play teams with winning records.  I bet no other teams had to play as many as we did.

yeah DoD 1.0 was super small timey, guess we should negate all the 11 win seasons for scheduling puds.

My point is we were on the cusp of being good this year, I pointed out we were mediocre, but we are the youngest team in Snyder history so there is good reason to think we'll be better than OSU (10 Sr starters and QB may leave) and WVU (13 SR starters) next year. Optimism isn't stupidity, sometimes it's based in reason.

I think I am more optimistic than you.  I don't think we need to schedule wins. I have confidence that if we really do have a great team next year then they can beat real opponents.

Are the same people bitching about playing a bad Stanford team happy with the 2016 basketball season?

Not arguing that. I like that we played Stanford, went to the game it was a blast. Wish it wasn't the first game though. Just was a counterpoint to those scoffing that this could be a 10 win team

I agree, I really don't care if a guy looking to make a few million the upcoming April wants to sit out a game. It's his prerogative and they (big conferences/media) did create it with the playoff, and he's right that they look to expand it. Most of the bowls outside of it are worthless, have been worthless, and are going to prove even more worthless as things go on. I don't see what the big deal is either way. If anything, wouldn't the same be true when we just had the championship game in the BCS bowl era? Isn't all bowls outside of a title game pretty much pale in comparison to that? What are you playing for?

After all, most of the kids on teams going to lower tier bowls that do have an NFL future really didn't get much from their school in the first place other than an education and a bunch of free food, their time to cash in is more important. The rest though should just play on, not like they got anything better to do. But really, the fact that this is a big deal anyways, it affects like a few tens of players maybe, shows once again people focus on the wrong thing.

I don't like the kids sitting out of bowl games. I think it will end up hurting their draft stock, anyway.

If Jordan Willis wanted to sit out vs A&M, i'd totally be on board with it. Freak accidents happen all the time. He's this much closer to his payday for him and his family. Do your thing, you owe us nothing. If we were in the playoff, i'd sing a different tune.

Its just the modern college football. It probably would have happened anyway, but IMO having the playoffs contributes to this. For teams that had any playoff aspirations in the preseason, a bowl game becomes even more of an exhibition game.

I'd still rather have the playoffs BTW and expand to 8 or even 16.
