I just don't like the $ being wasted on uniform variations. We have people losing their homes, 4 out of 10 kids don't get proper nutrition because their families don't have money, our nation is 700 billion in debt, and we throw $ around like it's candy. Don't like it. Play football without all the stupid fricking uniforms. Wish the NCAA would make a rule. You have a home uni and a road uni. That's it. Get back to focusing on football, not a stupid damn helmet.  We can show appreciation to our soldiers without wasting more $.  Like having a Ft. Riley day, giving them tickets, and honoring them.  What's wrong with that?  Thanks soldiers.  No thanks to the helmets.

agree, but regardless of who pays for it, it is a waste of money.  I am of the opinion that it's way out of control.  Fancy helmets, fancy suites, fancy jumbotrons, etc... Ridiculous. Give me a fancy fullback slobberknocking a linebacker.  That's all the fancy I need, but nowadays, it's all about material things, and unfortunately, I'm in the miniority.  Can you imagine how much good Nike or Adidas could do for this country if they'd just donate their multi uniform budget to causes that could actually make a difference?  I'm not saying that's necessarily fair to them, but for gods sakes, a team wearing 5 different helmets during a year is just flat stupid.

They were probably shitty overlay stickers that went over the same helmets they wear every week.  Total budget for all those stickers might have been $50.

I didn't realize that South Carolina's unis were not allowed because of the contrast in colors between the jerseys and numbers.

that was in 2011.   Because they were "hard to read"

As far as the guy who doesn't like all the different uniforms--has he seen the waterfall in Alabama's lap pool? I'm so disgusted by "amateur" athletics I almost can't believe I watch it anymore. Gotta drink Coors Light all day on Saturday just to get through it.

Good piece.  I do think they might have been going for blood spatter in the initial design.  I wonder if they were questioned about it and backtracked during the design process.  Why, look at the strips, all neat and uniform.  When flags are worn the strips are torn asunder, holes, and discoloration distort the flag.  Not random streaks of red. 
This is the design they should have been shooting for and I think it would pay a much more sincere homage to the WWP's mission
