You guys should really worry less about where they want to go and more about whether we would prefer moving to the Pac-X, Big East, or SEC.

No worries. We are firmly attached to one of Bevo's nuts.

Any conf that wants Texas is going to want the Cats so UT has at least 1 conf loss every year.  Might be their only chance to keep UT from winning the conf every year.

That's a sound marketing strategy.

I don't know if it'd be a factor at all (I'm sure it isn't), but Lawrence would certainly fit in with the other Pac towns.

I had no idea the other Pac towns had Orscheln's, Tractor Supply, John Deere, and Kubota dealers within a few blocks on one of their busier streets.
Interesting.

not to mention you can stand on interstate and be within 100 yards of their kick ass strip mall and corn field. Very metropolitan area that Lawrence is.

What's classier than a BYOB strip club in a corn field?

it's a really nice kansas town and people that say it isn't are ridiculous. i like it a lot more than similar sized kansas towns like salina.

Agreed.  Lived there myself for 1.5 years and really liked the town.  I would live in Lawrence hands down over anywhere else in Kansas except Manhattan & JoCo.  However, anybody who claims anything more than this about Lawrence needs to get over themselves.

I just don't understand.  I mean, I accept that there are people out there like you, but I just can't understand you.  Can we get to know each other a little better?  How do you feel about Toby Keith?  Do you sport any type of facial hair?  Do you own anything that is camouflage?  I don't understand how anyone else would like this stuff either, so if you DO like Toby Keith, it would make it easier to accept your thoughts and feelings on these locations.

See, this is why people lol at lawrence.  Lawrence is a farm town with a college and an old downtown that someone threw a brewery and a used clothing store on.  Just like Ames, Manhattan, Lubbock, Stillwater etc.  Putting an Arizona trading company next to a coffee shop doesn't make you Chapel Hill or Ann Arbor.  There are plenty of Toby Keith fans in lawrence who will all be at Arrowhead this weekend to groove to Uncle Cracker and sing all the 2 Zac Brown songs they know.

Interesting.

For instance Lawrence is basically just like Berkley, except completely opposite in every imaginable way.

It reminds me of Palo Alto, if it were completely different in every single way and full of hicks with no money.

Ok, being serious for a second here. Lawrence isn't as bad as we joke about, yeah the roads are crap and the crime is way worse than Manhattan, but it's pretty ok.

But they "fit in" with other West Coast towns? LO rough ridin' L

Nothing surprises me these days.

I read a pretty good breakdown of ku and K-State's financial record by a financial guy in Tuck land.   He pointed out some things I've noticed over the years, and a couple of other things that have come to light lately.   A couple of examples:  ku athletics counts property like AFH as an asset.   How do you count facilities that are technicially state property the moment they are built as an asset for a non profit athletic corporation ultimately operating under the umbrella of a state institution?  In fact Allen Fieldhouse is still technically a Kansas National Guard Armory I believe, at least that's how they got money to build it.   K-State athletics DOES NOT count its facilities as assets.

ku as of the end of FY 2010 had $82 million dollars in liabilities on the books, K-State had $32 million.   K-State had $11 million in bonds outstanding, KU had $45 million in bonds outstanding, plus another loan for $6 million outstanding on their relatively new football facility.   ku athletics owed various departments on campus over $15 million dollars and from what I've heard they still owe ku parking services an a$$ load of money and that's causing a real problem.

Like I've said before, the ONLY reason ku athletics finished the last reported on Fiscal Year in the Black was because of the $3.5 million dollars in student fees and instutional support they collected.

Why?  I could understand it if the facilities were state funded.  But, the BFS for instance, is 100% privately funded.  Is that technically state property?

Anything built on the K-State campus is state property, it doesn't matter how it's paid for.

Those facilities might be under the management of K-State athletics, but when it all shakes out in the wash, it's state property.

That's why when you build anything it has to be approved by the Board of Regents, and go throught the state approval process.
