Who on this roster will sign NFL contracts?

hard to say at this point.  The ones I'm fairly certain will at this time are Foketi, A. Brown, B. Brown, Braden Wilson, Doerr, and Zimmerman.

Guys I think will have a shot but have yet to see enough from or need more development physically are Harper, Lucas, and Walker

there are some younger players who might possess the physical attributes to one day get there like Clark, Whitehair, Sams (as a receiver), maybe Seau as an 3-4 OLB.

I'm not sure what to think of Meshak Williams, Blackmon, or Tillman at this point but they sure have bodies on them that could be developed.  You never know with some of these guys but the JCs need to start producing great stuff, pronto, if they expect to be considered.
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

that's all i want.  a dangerous roster.
i was taking a piss yesterday and thought i wanted snyder gone.  but if you're telling me that in a few years we'll have a dangerous roster then i'm good to go.  i don't have a problem with his coaching, i just think our players have sucked that past few years.

cosh sucks though, little doubt about that.

2012 should be really good.  I think we could be 9 or 10 wins type good.  The most will lose is about 4 starters on defense and should have everyone returning on offense but the two OTs.    I think this 2011 team will be very competitive and push for pontentially 8 wins.  I definitely see us beating Baylor, Mizzou, Iowa State, and Kansas this year.  Texas Tech is a very winnable road game for us this year unless you still think Leach is coaching there and didn't listen to Tuberville's semi-depressed outlook on his team this year.  We may steal one from aTm or OU at home though both are less likely than the previous ones mentioned.

Look at 2012...Mizzou will return 4 starters on offense and will lose some long time contributors defensively (3 on the DL, alone).

Oklahoma State will lose their QB, stud WR, stud LT (4 OL total) and we'll have them at home.  Gundy's never produced great defenses

Texas A&M will lose their QB and stud receiver plus a ton of people defensively.

Baylor will likely lose Gordon to an early entry to the draft and Kendall Wright would be gone.  It's possible RG3 will be gone to the draft also.

None of those 4 teams will look nearly as formidable going into next season as they appear right now heading into 2011.
Thanks The Manhatter.  I feel a lot better.  I'm glad to hear we're getting better and not just holding on.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Let's focus on the oline & safety, shall we?

2011 will lose alot of bodies. We have time to replace CB and RB, but OL and safety are a need.

If we are going to be successful, we need some solid OL and safety commits. I'm still butt hurt about Trent Tuner (not that it would change anything).

I like the DL focas as of late.

As far as safety is concerned we have two greyshirts so they will be here next spring and will likely pick up another one this class.  I like Bonugli for strong safety and Ferguson is back another year.  Zimmerman will have two years left after this one.

OL...you can be resourceful.  I could see McDonald finally maturing and getting that he could be a first day pick as a tackle and will be merely an afterthought as a TE.  If he wants to stay at TE the only thing he'll go pro in is wrestling.  Tyler Davidson will likely move to tackle...these big TE prospects who are not necessarily gifted as receiving TEs or don't possess quite that talent turn into good OTs many times.  Seems like it happens all of the time.  If those two shift over we have 15 OL for next spring.  Remember that Lucas is a really nice talent there and Douglas and Hostrup are two more bodies.  I could see us adding a JC.  Sure, it's a need but we're sitting pretty well for OL right now.

Wilson will sign a contract.  It'll probably be a free agent contract but the dude will be one of the top 4 or 5 FBs his senior yr.

Thoughts:
Need at least 3 of the SO OL to get significant reps this year
Roster looks better from a physical and speed aspect. Only time will tell if the newcomers improve depth.
If the D finishes in the top 25 statistically or even top 50, should I still hate on Cosh?
6 wins is major disappointment. Only way it is not is that every position improves but the trigger man can't make plays, Ala Jason Smargiasso in 1992.  I expect to have a shot at 9 and would be satisfied with 8 and a decent bowl.

Kiper has him rated #2 fullback for his draft class at the moment...nfldraftscout has him 3rd.  they get tipped by nfl scouting personnel.  he's 6'3 255 and is just under 4.7...workhorse with good hands.  h-back type.

Wilson will be in a camp somewhere.  If he's not drafted, I'm sure he'll secure a free agent contract pretty quickly.

A lot of people don't understand that the NFL still runs a pro style offense with a lot of formations that still require a fullback.  Now that college teams are moving more towards the spread offenses, it puts fullbacks in higher demand.

I bet he's a late round pick (5-7) and sticks on a roster long enough to secure retirement benefits provided he stays healthy to get that service time in.  He is the prototype of what the NFL wants in a fullback nowadays.

Concerns in order:

quality of DT
no depth anywhere on the DL
Lamur at OLB
Cosh (does this count as "roster"?)

well put.  If Snyder throws him the ball more it will improve his stock.  All the NFL wants out of these guys any more is the ability to block and catch passes.  All that fullback for the Texans does is crack heads.  BW will need to get up in the 265 range but that is doable.

So it looks like Kellis is (once again) a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) as Tillman hasn't joined the team yet.  Snyds says it is still likely that he sill though.  Also, the dude signed an LOI so I don't see how he could be a walkon.

All of the group listed below are greyshirts w/ the exception of Cathey who we believe is a JC placement...it was reported by someone that he was working out w/ the team this summer ala the other greyshirts.  Whether that was true or not we don't know.

Jade Cathey is gonzo.  Playing basketball at Seward.

http://www.kscbnews.net/news/?nk=6160

Quote
Cathey originally signed to play football at Kansas State.   The Wildcats were going to grayshirt him this season meaning he wouldn't have played for the Wildcats but would not have lost a year of eligibility.  Cathey is Liberal's all time and single season leading receiver going for 45 grabs and 691 yards and nine touchdowns last season after 46 grabs for 770 yards as a junior.  But Cathey's first love is basketball.  The 6'5" Cathey averaged 17 points and nine rebounds a game for the Redskins after averaging 17 points and six boards a game his junior season and 12 points and five boards a game his sophomore year.  He'll join a freshman oriented Seward team under Bryan Zollinger which has won the Jayhawk West two of the past four years.
