That's it?  I honestly thought it would be more.  That's only like $150B per year.  You'd think that when you have a xenophobic, hegemonic, imperialist, murdering, fear mongering, president running MULTIPLE (what is it, 5 now?) illegal wars it would cost a lot more.  Props to B.O. for keeping the cost somewhat reasonable relative to other federal government programs.

I guess we know who Bookcat won't be voting for next year.   :bracketmouse:

as long as idiots like you view our military budget as a Democrat vs. Republican issue, nothing will ever get solved.

and remember..neither of us had a chance to vote on any such military budget. Sure, you can say "such and such voted for Obama or McCain"

but the fact remains that we don't have a choice.

Blank check that military...then tell the middle class who have been laid off, foreclosed, skyrocketing health care costs, energy...that is OUR FAULT because we just spent too much.

Yur kidding, right?

What part of "The Whitehouse requested" don't you understand Book?

It was the House that reduced the increase, which is another thing that's never talked about, the fact that a reduction in the increase is called a "cut" in Washington D.C.

What portion of defense spending are you looking at Dax, because the freshmen GOP congresscritters have learned that they love to buy stuff that blows crap up, and have actually called for more spending than Obama on lots of defense items.

oh, that's right..McCain would have asked for less.

Is that the world you live in? Really?

Like I said earlier, I'm angry that the Whitehouse has blank checked our defense department while at the same time, accused the lower and middle class for wrecking this country. Shameful

Excuses as always Book . . . that's all Obamabots have these days, "I'm disappointed that Obama has continued/supported/enhanced/signed (insert issue here) BUT . . .".

06, the House actually cut about $8 billion from the original military budget request from the Whitehouse.

The House cut about $8 billion from President Barack Obama's overall defense spending request, voting to provide about $530 billion for the Pentagon's base budget and another $119 billion for the ongoing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Obama has asked for about $690 billion for military spending for 2012
. This House bill does not include funds for U.S. nuclear weapons programs or military construction, which come in other bills and add about $33 billion to military spending.
