I miss the feeling of watching the tourney in 2009, when i knew it wouldn't be a kansas FAIL montage...

I think Bill Self should have accepted the award on their behalf

not to belabor the point, but get real, man.
We have lost in epic fashion, no one has done it quite like us. It sucks, but it's a fact.

Say what you want about our past failures, but last year's was a real piece of work.

What will sting worse is that there should be some very solid NBA ballers coming off last year's KU team and, like the '97 team, we'll just be left to shake to shake our heads and wonder how it got away.

Even with those of us that defend the heck out of the program, 68-6 with no Final Fours leaves some indigestion.

They have given out 7 Best Upset awards at the ESPYs.
2004 - NBA Finals Detriot over LA Lakers 4-1
2005 - Bucknell over Kansas 64-63
2006 - not awarded
2007 - NBA 1st round Golden State over Dallas 4-2
2008 - Super Bowl XLII NY Giants 17 New England 14
2009 - Confederations Cup USA 2 Spain 0
2010 - Northern Iowa over Kansas 69-67
2011 - VCU over Kansas 71-61
3 freaking times in the 7 years it has been awarded. Congrats Bill. And we wonder why we have blown goats recruiting???

I have an even better one. How bout Reed and Brady shooting a combined 1-19 from behind the arc. If you're going to play those guys ahead of better talent all year going into the NCAA tournament then you better take the heat when they can't rise to the occasion and knock down threes when the heat is on with a final four and possible title on the line.
Lets see how that effects our backcourt recuiting, if 2011 is any indication then it was not worth the hassle of dealing with another humiliating NCAA faceplant on top of potentially destroying our recruiting with top players especially backcourt recruits.

Oh if Stephon Curry had just hit that last second shot in 2009.

Really shouldn't be considered an upset when it happens 50% of the time.

3 times in 7 years....extremely impressive if you think about all the upsets there are over the course of a year in sports.

It really gets to them.

I like when they celebrate it like a helms title. practically the same thing, I guess.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."
