Targeted Excellence...for those that know, should I be upset that Schulz is cutting the funding for that?

This really seems like something we should be asking you.

I'm apathetic, hate to see cuts but then again their is no better way to trim the fat then budget shortfalls.

The thing I like about Shulzy is how involved he is with the NBAF stuff.  If he's not twittering about flying out of MHK or what he ate and with who it's always about NBAF.

This is true.   NBAF is huge.

Plus Schulz has a Research development background.

NBAF will end up being more important to K-State/the Manhattan area than all of the success KU has had in their entire athletic history combined. We're so rough ridin' elite.

I was trying to get more out of you on this yesterday.

It's been too long since I've read a Dax money thread, so I'm willing to play the fool, educate me.

I don't know but I think the effects of cutting the Targeted Excellence program could be lessened by the new credit hour surcharge going directly to the school hosting the class.

My main concern is that he's cutting funding to sources of revenue, which I don't think is ever the best idea. I'll take your word that cutting 8 positions and $304,000 from the athletic department doesn't constitute a budget cut, but it seems like it would at least make it harder to sell tickets, etc. And isn't the point of National Institute for Strategic Technology Acquisition and Commercialization to bring in commercial funds, or was it just to get Wefald and his friends rich(er)?

I can't wait to come back in 10 years and see that Manhattan is a metropolis.

We will be one of the only schools in the world with a BSL 4 facility on campus. JFC, we will be among the most dangerous schools on Earth

for those that know, should I be upset that Schulz is cutting the funding for that.

I am already growing leary of Schulz.   He's all chum'd up with the KU Chancellor, he gave a joke of a response about "why K-State" in the interview with the LJ World.

There's 2 things I actually liked about Weefer, well 3.

1.  When he arrived he established that we weren't going to take a backseat to ku on anything politically.

2.  He made the KSU Foundation what it should have been 15 to 20 years earlier (then treated it like his personnel credit card but that's another story for another time).

3.  He got KSU highly engaged in Washington.

Anywho . . . wat Targeted Excellence just a Weefer blowhard bag of BS??

Some of the crap they are cutting absolutely has to go, because it is relevant to maybe 30 people. Basically the whole university is is in a crap storm trying to cut anywhere they can and this was an obvious decision.
