Door dings
« on: July 09, 2011, 05:22:35 PM »
I think I could honestly kill the person that door dinged me if I caught them in the act. :driving: I mean are you that fat, lazy and inconsiderate that you don't know how to get out of your car without slamming your door against the one right next to you?  On the flip side I accidentally door dinged someone yesterday but that was only because they were hugging the line and I wanted to teach them a lesson.  It was also like a 92 Mazda or something..   I think I actually improved it some if you know what I'm saying? :gocho:

Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

one time I door dinged someone and they tried to start a physical confrontation.  Luckily my wife was with me and she yelled at them.

The key is always knowing that your car is as shitty or shittier than anyone's car you would park next to.  I don't think I've worried about door dings for over a decade now.

Drive into the car show restricted part of old town in the next 14 minutes and go to town.

Door dinged a fellow EMAW at work.  Wind grabbed it and ripped it from my hands.  Found out that you only have to pay the deductible if you want your vehicle fixed (mine wasn't damaged), so that was cool.

You are old enough to have a job and just figured out how deductibles work?  At least that means you haven't been in any accidents.

Pretty sure the guy I door dinged was EMAW as well but I don't give a crap.  If you hug the line and I pull in next to you you're gonna pay. :nono:Only an imbecile or chick hugs a line...... or a black person.

My sis in law (no juggalo) just got a brand new car about a month ago.  This chick (somehow) managed to wack the side of her car into my bro's car.  While backing out of the garage.  Still trying to figure out the logistics of the whole thing.

Had my new truck for about 5 months before the first door ding. 6 months before the second. Both of these happened at my apartment by the same chick. Would punch in the face if it was socially acceptable. Can not wait to get moved into my new house.

Did you make her insurance pay for it?

that guy that parks way out in the middle of nowhere in the parking lot straddling the line so his camaro doesn't get door dinged?  Yeah, I park so close to him he has to get into his passenger side door and in the process I boot my door into his car a few times.

Not able to prove it was her. She was parked there the nights before, but in the morning was gone and then found the dings when I got to work.

Oh it is, but you pay for it anyway, so you might as well use it.

There was some dumbass straddling the line in a brand new pickup truck at target the other day. I just wish I had 2 cars with me so I could have blocked both of his doors.

Yup.  :fatty:

Seeing as how I paid off my vehicle (18 months early I might add  :kstategrad:), should I no longer be carrying full coverage?

That depends on how much your vehicle is worth, mostly.  My theory is to keep a low deductible for comp and get glass coverage (if your insurer provides it) and you can get collision coverage based upon how bad you think you drive and if it is worth it to have to pay a deductible to get your car repaired.  I say you always want comp coverage no matter what (unless your car is worth like less than $2000.00) because you may be the best driver in the world and still have a deer run out in front of you, or have someone vandalize your car.  Also, rock chips in the windshield and whatnot.

Yeah, the only time to skip insurance is when you're comfortable paying for another of equal value out of pocket.

EDIT: There are exceptions. Back in school when I bought my motorcycle, the bike was worth about $6K. I couldn't have afforded to simply write a check for another if I wrecked, but I skipped full coverage as it was $1800/year. I figured if I didn't wreck in the first few years, I made good on it.
