Everything I know about Turkey, I learned from early in the movie Condorman.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082199/

what a great idea for a movie.

It was fantastic.  In elementary school, a teacher had some peripheral relation to somebody in the movie so we got to watch it in class.  Hadn't though of it for a while until all this Turkey talk came up.  May have to buy a used copy of the dvd for $40.

Don't you think the guy who has been to Turkey and has Turkish friends knows more about it than you? Bunch of rubes in the thread.  :flush:

Excellent point.  No one else in this thread could possibly know more than "guy with Turkish/Arab friends."  Pure science.

"I took a geography class, I know everything about the Turkish people!!!"

Little known fact, but Kurdish Turks think of themselves as Persians.

As my grampa used to say: What do you get when you cross an Arab, a Turk, and a Persian? An angry Kurd and zero Armenians!

I've been to Turkey and dated a Turkish girl who lived in London. Most Turks don't consider themselves part of the Arab world, they are quite proud to be secular. Turkey is considered the border between Europe and Asia, with the West side of Istanbul being in Europe and the East side Asia.

omg, the way the porsches drove into town and the people took cover.  and then the way the exited the market square.

and then the lasergun in the boatchase and the way the bad russian tore off his eyepatch to answer the phone!  and the flying, with flapping and everything.

not to mention the cultural tour through europe.  the whole thing was just amazing.
