Time for a second edition of Friday's Findings. In case you ever miss a week or need to review, we'll post past updates over at the Wabash CannonBlog forum.
Friday's Findings : June 17th
Here's this week's news...
NATHANEAL LOHN- Did not make it to KSU's camp this past weekend. Listed his favorites as Iowa, Stanford, Nebraska, Iowa State, Missouri, and MIchigan State. Set to decide in early August.
JACOB DAVIS- Didn't camp at Kansas State. Camped at KU, OU, BU, TCU, OSU, Tulsa, and ISU. ISU likes him quite a bit. Only one offer from North Dakota State. No visits in the works at the moment. Is under the impression that the Wildcats aren't looking at anymore linebackers this class. Likes ISU at the moment.
CHRIS PAGE- Page has attended no camps to this point, other than a 7-on-7 camp at Air Force. He's instead been working on high school team conditioning with a few teammates, all of which are being pursued by Northern Colorado.
NATE SHEPHERD- Has already been to New Mexico, Colorado State, and Wyoming. Shepherd will visit Northern Colorado this weekend. Others expressing interest include San Diego State, Utah, as well as some early developments with UNLV and Montana.
BRETT McMAKIN- For an update regarding this Blue Valley West stud, follow this link which details his heavy interest in both the Wildcats and Sooners : Makin' A Statement
GRAHAM NABITY- Has already been to KU, Nebraska, and Northwest Missouri State. Nabity expressed mild excitement about venturing to South Dakota State because "a ton of D-II coaches should be going to evaluate". The future marketing major says he has briefly heard from K-State but it sounds very limited. Graham says he would prefer to play running back at the next level and is ready to run behind a "real offensive line" this season. Apparently last year there were some circumstances that left the first year varsity player running behind a makeshift "JV" line… Don't worry, I was confused too.
RUSSELL HANSBROUGH- Didn't camp at K-State and hasn't been contacted by Wildcats in quite some time. Only college who's expressed interest, which seems to be mutual, is Arizona State. Did mention Baylor, but mainly talked exclusively about the Sun Devils.
KEON HATCHER- Arkansas sits on top with the receiver for now because they've offered a scholarship. Hatcher says Oklahoma State is very close to extending an offer as well but they may be waiting on a few more evaluations. The Oklahoman will be at TCU and A&M next month. He didn't make it to Kansas or Kansas State for camps in June, although he receives letters from both but that's about it.
JONIKO THOMAS- Thomas' recruitment seems to be gaining momentum. After attending his first summer camp a few weeks ago at Tulsa, the Golden Hurricanes extended a scholarship offer. He also is planning to camp at Kansas State and possibly Kansas next month. Thomas says the Wildcats have been very interested and have consistently sent mail. Texas Tech, TCU, and Utah State have also sent information to the prospect. Missouri's junior day was supposed to be another visit, but he says his car broke down and he wasn't able to make it, which was a disappointment because "the DB coach up there loves me". At this point, he says he's open to everyone. The defensive back says Chris Cosh attended a practice during spring ball and came away impressed with how he defended in 1 on 1's. New secondary coach Tom Hayes has also been in contact with Joniko.
TIM WRIGHT- According to Tim, Texas A&M is really the only school he's hearing from and basically the lone school he cares about. When asked if he'd make any visits to destinations other than College Station, the running back admitted only if a school such as Oklahoma came along. When asked to put a percentage on the chance he ends up as an Aggie, Wright said "75". He plans on making a decision before his senior season.
ZAIRE ANDERSON- Mentioned Temple as the top school he's been hearing from. Cincinnati, West Virginia, and FIU have also been emailing. Hasn't heard from K-State in a long time. The native of Pennsylvania would like to get back east and added one of his top priorities will be playing a 3-4 defensive system. TERRY GRIGSBY- The speedy Omaha receiver has been gaining interest from the home-state Huskers, but Kansas State has been in on Grigsby the longest and continue to impress the versatile athlete. For more, read this link : Grigsby plans to visit KSU again DREW OTT- Just days after Rob wrote an update about how KSU offered the Nebraska defensive end, Ott committed to Iowa.

why are the "Findings" mainly covering kids without D-1 offers let alone KSU offers? Most of the recruiting updates done by GPC over the past few months have been on 8-man kids from Nebraska and preferred walk-on types that will never get an offer from KSU.
Is this the extent of recruiting coverage from this site these days? There is a list in the database of kids KSU has offered. I guess I wonder why very few of these kids have been called by GPC.

When those kids decide to answer the telephone, you'll have an update. The list of all the players we attempt to get a hold of is a lot longer than just the names above. But if they don't pick up the phone, we can't provide any news. Sorry. It's a daily process.

I appreciate the response and clarification. My next question would be why is it that other sites can get in touch with these kids to do updates? Do they simply call more often? I remember Gates stating a number of times that it took quite a few calls to get some of the kids.

I thought your efforts were good Wallace. Thank you.
Tim Wright likes to compete with 10 other running backs?

It's all chance who you get a hold of, but I love that the guys are now providing all of the information they cull, much of what falls well short of needing a story. When they do get in contact with a kid with interest, they write a story and it's on the front page.
The number of calls they make on a daily basis is astounding. People just don't understand that kids don't eagerly answer the phone every time an unknown number rings, which it can do often for good players who are being tracked by different sites off of all the various networks.
