I thought you might actually have some professional insight into the fish stuff do to you being a snake scientist or whatever.  The "sys being sys" thing was just referencing your nonconformist nature.

Meh, i have a KS fishing license which cost like $25(paid extra for 3 pole) a year. That $25 pays for fish stocking/enforcement etc, i keep maybe 1-2 fish a year I catch on public land so I would say they are making a hearty profit off me.


On a related note I made this comment a couple weeks back

Man, I really wish the phone on my camera was working yesterday when I went down to the KS River underneath the 435 bridge. You guys would be amazed at the crazy asians down there.

I counted 8 different people standing in the middle of the river with throw nets catching fish, even a couple standing on top of the weir/waterfall throwing nets belows. The males would net a bunch of fish, bring them over to the shore where the female's/kids would throw them straight on the fire, no cleaning or anything.

Then in about 5 minutes they would pull the whole fish off the flames and eat it with their hands. 

I cruise a couple of fishing boards and, Well lets just say KC Jayhawk 78 IS NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT

channels are biting there, watch out for the throw net mafia keeping all the channels stuck in the holes between the rocks and the weir itself. I think its time to get the game warden down there before they start snagging the blues when they move in.

Is this personal or professional interest?  I have some strong feelings on the matter and spend almost a grand every year on hunting and fishing licenses and tags.

mostly personal, although my profession does intersect.  i have very strong feelings myself (pro), it is a source of a great deal of frustration.

That was my guess, have never talked to any of them that much besides when the kids see me about to throw a fish back and ask if they can have it.

Well California is pretty mumped up in relation to the rest of the country.

Well California is pretty mumped up in relation to the rest of the country.

in terms of animal ownership, california is in line with most of the country.  probably slightly more restrictive than average, but well within the range of normal.  most states have become much, much more restrictive over the last 30-40 years (especially so over the last 20 or so).

Got a ton of rain yesterday so I tried to get on some catfish where a creek dumps into a lake.  Only caught a couple of catfish, but caught 5 carp...all about the same size 3-4 lbs.

Weird that you were catching carp on catfish bait, only time I've ever caught carp is when I snag them with a lure.

Good plan on fishing the crick mouth after all the rain, planning on doing the same thing tomorrow morning. Going out to where mill crick runs into the KS river in western JOCO.
