Cleaning fish is the worst. I always have grandma do it for me. BTW, Ben ji, my GMA has stocked ponds in the flint hills in Eskridge if you're ever interested.

My dad has a farm near Eskridge, I ride 4 wheelers out there, tons of fun!

So I didn't know if this story should go here or the amazing animals thread, but here it goes. When I was 10 and fishing at my gmas and gpas pond, I had a Huge tug at the end of my line. I was like crap, this is a massive catfish. I worked on him for like 40 minutes all across the pond. Finally, I saw something poking above the shore. What was it you ask? It was a massive turtle. Like, this thing was rough ridin' HUGE. I finally pulled him on land, where out of nowhere my gpa emerged with a machete and chopped his head off in once slice. Boom! no more turtle. I was like "Grandpa, why did you do that? He was going to be my pet!" He was like "He eats all the fish that I pay to be stocked. I've been trying to catch that POS for years. Whewwwww...finally back at the desk. Ended up fighting that monster for 20 minutes with my 6lb test, ended up on the other side of the pond from where I snagged it. If you look on his front dorsel fin you can see the blood from where my jig snagged it.

SD- I gave him a push out when i left and he swum away to live another day.

Wacky- I catch a huge snapping turtle all the time when I fish my favorite crick spot, I always cut the line since I dont have a machete weilding gramps to help me.

Thanks for the info sys! Most the snakes I see are just your standard water snake variety but I've had a couple of close calls and would really like to keep my snake venom intake to the recommended level.

A couple of years ago I was fishing down at rocky ford and had just hooked a Decent sized catfish. The fish took off downstream when I was reeling it in so I had to work my way down the bank. When I finally get the fish about 20 yards away from me I look around and see a copperhead swimming downstream and its HEADED RIGHT FOR ME.

I held my pole(Still shaking violently from the fish) in one hand and in my other hand started picking up rocks and throwing them at the snake in an attempt to get it to change course. Eventually the snake changed course but I'm sure all the other fisherman got a good laugh wondering what the hell I was doing.

Then last year I was fishing at a buddy's farm pond and landed a teeny lil bass. I yanked it out of the water and it landed on the bank about 4 feet to my left, as soon as started flopping around on the bank a Copperhead that had been chilling right next to me(Without my knowledge or permission) bites the crap out of the lil bass. I did not want to touch the fish in case there was some venom on the outside so I cut the line and threw the fish back to the copperhead who promptly ate the crap out of it.

Jokes on the snake though, he's going to have a fish hook in his belly for the rest of his life! HA!

I caught a fresh water eel one time and I thought it was a snake. I dropped my pole and it dragged it into the river to never be seen again.  I was in 8th grade and fishing by myself.

Caught about 5 fish in the first hr yesterday but nothing after that.

Biggest one was only about 2-3 lbs.
