So here is something I didn't expect to see - A 4 ft long dead paddlefish in a private 30 acre lake that has was built in the '90s. There was an old 5 acre farm pond that was swallowed up when the lake was made but I have always thought of paddlefish as big reservoir or river fish.

Is the pond near a river? Its possible the old 5 acre lake could have been an oxbox lake or something that had a paddle fish trapped in it. Otherwise they would of had to stock it.

the Kaw is downstream of this lake about 5 miles as the crow flies, prolly a 8 or 10 mile swim. I guess somebody could of caught it in the river and released it in the lake.

Dad called me this weekend @ben ji and we're going down to bennett springs at the end of the month for some trout fishing. I haven't been in awhile. It should be fun.

I saw Wacky's trout pics on FB and decided, hell, its to early to quit fishing for the year!!!

Found a hidden gem in the KC area, right around I-35 and 87th street. It appears to be some sort of business park pond but WOW was it loaded with fish or what!

First stop was the biggest pond at the bottom of the waterfalls. I caught maybe 7-8 bass but nothing over 1lb.

I did how ever find a Crappie hole and pulled out 5 of these guys in like 10 minutes.

Next stop was the middle pond where I didnt catch crap.

Final stop was the tiny little pond at the top....WOWZERS, wasn't expecting to catch some lunkers like these!

Best part was I used the same jig and worm the ENTIRE day! Wow, thats pretty unusual huh, that worm was torn to shreds.

great stuff ben ji, it looks like they dump a bunch of chemicals in those ponds to make them look blue tho, i hope those fish don't give you ebola, cheers!

I noticed this as well, definitely a blue dye put in there but most "business park ponds" will do that. I talked with one guy who was taking his lunch time walk and he said the ponds were overgrown with algae over the summer and they dumped some chemicals in to kill it, so maybe that's it.

Not eating anything out of there tho, so i couldn't care less.

Nope. I cared minus 2 fucks. I was exhausted from staying up Friday night and paking my face off for the Royals game. It was dark when we left in the morning, so I was pretty "meh".
