What a beautiful day after our lord and saviors birth!

I'm headed out to do some token fishing along the banks of the glorious kaw.

Looks like there was an old golf course next to the river and they built some sort of peninsula to divert water for irrigation....All I know is that spot will be TEEMING(sp?) with fish.

The old golf course was the first thing I noticed (clicked link before reading whole post)  Google maps is great for finding prime lunker spots.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Woof, Tons of no trespassing/hunting/fishing/atv's etc etc posted so I didnt get to check it out. I always thought there was a 100ft buffer area around the river that was public access but I'll have to check up on that.

Ended up going to check out another spot

https://www.google.com/search?q=38.982481%2C-94.921952&rlz=1C1AFAB_enUS495US496&oq=38.982481%2C-94.921952&aqs=chrome..69i57.1280j0j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8

The smaller creeks and part of the river were iced over so I didnt fish much, will definitely return in the spring.

I go fishing at the Diamond Creek/Diamond Springs area in Morris/Chase county.

Peaceful, quiet, and not many people at all.

So went and scoped out some fishing spots along the kaw on sunday and found some big tracks. They looked pretty old and some of the snow had melted.

Gonna need @says to identify them.

I should add that although this track is most definitely not that of Bigfoot, it does indicate that there are predators in the area, which would indicate that there is prey in the area.  River and woody habitat like this is very Squatchy.  Due to prey/predators being in the area I would guess this area has a chance of containing a Bigfoot or at least some Bigfoot traffic.  We should probably have a night investigation.

http://gizmodo.com/this-floating-sonar-pod-turns-your-smartphone-into-a-fi-1511452823

If fishing for you is more about pulling the most catches out of a lake—instead of simply using your wits to outsmart nature—then the more gear the better. And while fish finders have been around for decades, the FishHunter is the first to turn your smartphone into a window to what lies below the water's surface.

Instead of having to strap the sonar hardware to the side of a boat or a dock, the FishHunter is small enough to float on the water's surface, letting you simply tether it with fishing line so it doesn't drift out of range of your smartphone's Bluetooth connection—about 80 feet or so.

On a full charge the FishHunter will scan the murky depths to up to 120 feet below the water's surface for somewhere around six to nine hours. And it reports back what it finds—from the topography of the bottom of a lake, to what it thinks are fish—to your iPhone or Android smartphone's display.

They were so happy when they finally got it out of the hole! If we ever got enough ice to safely ice fish here in KC I would do it in a heartbeat, would really help me fight of the shakes from withdrawl.

I have been trying to figure out the best way to get an idea of "what lies beneath" at my bass pond. Just solved it.

I love technology.

it would be fun to tow it behind something like this if you can't put a boat on the water

O man, The1Bigwillie and I were just talking about hooking that fish finder up to a RC boat...I told him that I've always wanted to attach a line and hook to a RC boat, park it in the deepest part of a pond and wait until I catch a lunker...Once the fish is on the line I would just drive the boat back to the shore...Would obviously need to put some serious HP and Floatation devices on the RC boat but I'm thinking its completely doable.

A RC sub might hold up better for that and worst case it would act like the barrels in Jaws

This one looks pretty cool

I'm having second thoughts. I had already convinced my wife that I needed a fish finder AND a kayak. Quite the pickle.
