no assistant coaching experience either.  was a volunteer this year for NU.  qualifications?  played football for the AD.  the actual baseball savvy NU fans (one guy in the entire state, happens to work in my office) was understandably irate.

If he brings in qualified and experienced assistants, I don't think it's a horrible hire.  Definitely a stretch though but it's not like Tom gives a eff what people think.

Did you know Darin Erstad could have played professional football or hockey in addition to professional baseball? (american legion mom-esque factoid spouted by every nebraska or angels fan ever)
