Reasons you hate Wefald thread

Was just thinking about how much I hate Wefald, let's list reasons here:

Prince
Krause
Makes secret deals with Prince and lying about it
Taking full credit for hiring Snyder
Taking full credit for hiring Martin
Sucking ass in bball for 2 decades

I actually think that I am ok with this.  GW took a huge financial risk in funding football and it's facilities when Snyder got here the first time.  Seemed to financially starve the other sports.

I would rather us stay good in BB than have GP and have GP demanding more $ for himself and his staff.  I think if BB and FB were both screaming for more money, either FB gets satisfied first, or neither gets what they need.  Both ways, BB gets screwed and we would return to our Wooly years.

I am probably wrong, but I would prefer to keep a good BB team and have Snyder.

I think "assistant professor" is simply what all profs are called unless/until they get tenure.  Many at KSU are never tenured and spend their careers as an "assistant."  And 93K is a crazy high number for a KSU prof.

To think that the guy came in 20 years ago with a plan in place to fleece the people of KS and then managed to execute his plan flawlessly makes me want to

I had a teacher in my degree that quit after 5 yrs.  He deeply disagreed with the premise of tenure and told the department that he would quit rather than get tenure.  I don't know if the department has the reg, or the university, but he told me that prof's had 5 yrs to get tenure or they wouldn't have a job on yr 6.  Kind of like the army, keep progressing, or get kicked out.

Again, this may be BS, but he was a pretty straight shooter.

I guess some departments at KSU are "up or out."  I know others are not -- you can stay an assistant for your career.  I don't know which is more common.

Yeah, "philosophical problems" with tenure are really philosophical problems with administrators too lazy/scared to deal with incompetence.  Tenure isn't what most people think it is.

I hear you under 99% of situ's.  However, this guy was the best prof in the degree.  In my degree, most prof's were very successful in business and "retired" early to teaching.  At least one made multi-millionaire status by 30 from nothing.  When he quit, he went to run a huge, and successful, Const corp in Topeka.  This guy had the financial security to make this kind of decision without much worry.  School really wanted him to stay(he won prof of year in our dept something like 3 times in a row), and businesses really wanted him.  He was the real deal.

I don't know much about the politics in academia, but I could see this guy not wanting to deal with that component enough to leave. 

I don't know much about the structure of academia, but from my limited understanding, tenure is a stupid concept.  Anyone else get such job security in their industry just for meeting a minimum standards and simply being around more than 4 or 5 yrs?
