you know what is the absolute worst?  the people you are with that take the bar/dinner tab and start breaking it down at the table to see exactly what portion of the check they owe.  GMAFB, you make roughly the same amount of money I do.  just cut it in half or I'll pay for the entire thing to save the rest of the table the humiliation of having you doing long division over the rough ridin' bill at our table.

Paying the extra $ for brand name food/medicine/etc? No, denied

Depends. If it's between name brand and Kroger. Kroger all the way.
If it's between name brand and that Best Choice garbage. Un-frugal plz.

Yeah, my wife calls me a tight ass for buying Kroger brand food, but I really like it, and I'd actually be willing to pay a little bit more for it than some of the name brand food, depending on the item.

I'm pretty frugal with cheap things, but not frugal at all with expensive things.

I will never, under any circumstances, buy cereal in a bag.
When one person, for whatever reason, has a chance to lead an exceptional life, he has no right to keep it to himself.

All cereal comes in a bag dummy.  Just sometimes that bag is put in a box.

The only time I'm really frugal about things is when I'm buying things on-line.   Most of the time, if I would have to settle for something less/generic, I just do without.   Nothing pisses me off more when my wife buys something so cheap we end up just throwing it away because it sucks.   I always compain: "You saved 75 cents on cereal, but wasted 3 bucks because we ended up not eating the crap"  I HATE generic stuff.  :shakesfist:

I guess, you could consider me a tight ass on somethings - for instance, I kind of enjoy working on my house.  So, I'm going to fix some recent storm damage myself rather than have someone else do it.   Except for the roof...  Had some mexican's do that for me.

Yeah, if I can't fix it (which is many things) it stays broke, unless wife complains too much.

Did fix my dryer last month though.
Where did you get that overnight bag?

oh god, I am super un-frugal with house/yard stuff.  currently exploring either buying a new house or having one built because our carpets need a good steam cleaning or something.

Steve Dave sells all his stuff with his house and starts over with all new stuff in the new house.

Doesn't everyone?

I flip the buyer the keys like in a cool action movie where the hero flips the keys to the valet and yells "keep it"! as he chases the bad guy into the building.

I don't even like disconnecting my computer to move it from one side of the room to another.

It totally depends on the object. The best is finding a good deal on something that is incredibly expensive. I feel like it's a minor victory for me. For instance, when I renovate my house, I scour for good deals. Somethings aren't even supposed to be used in ways I use them, but I make them work. My next project is once the IKEA here opens, concrete countertops. We'll see how that one goes.

If you like cheap crap, it should go really well.

It's for a garage, so I hope so.

I'm actually thinking about remodeling my kitchen and making my own cabinets. Not really interested in paying someone 10's of thousands of dollars to make plywood boxes for me (unlike SD). Especially when I'm more than able to do it (unlike SD).

GO ahead and take 20% off what you paid for it when you resell.  no one wants your "custom" cabinets.

With food I usually go all out. I can build quality things. I can't cook quality things (sans pizza [see pizza thread]). I'm only cheap when I can make things or do things myself. Lets me buy better materials. I just remodeled my bathroom. I put in $14/s.f. tile. You've probably never smelled $14/s.f. tile.

I'm proud to say that I have no rough ridin' clue what $14/s.f. tile means and, god willing, never will.

$14 per square foot. What you have in your house is $2 per square foot.
