"Hey guys I'm from the Northland!"
"Hey, I'm from Shawnee Mission Parkway!"
"Dude, I live in Westport."
"Plaaaaaza"
Listen dorks. You live in Kansas City. Get over it already.
When speaking with people outside of KC I tell them I live in KC. When speaking with people in the metro area you have to cut it down to those regions. I mean, I work in Olathe, so if someone at work asks me where I live, and I tell them Kansas City, I'll probably get this look.
"Kansas City is so big man."
"Yeah I know it has boroughs just like NYC!"
"West Bottoms man. West Bottoms."
KC proper is larger by land area than NYC. Doesn't seem outrageous to differentiate neighborhoods when it can take up to an hour to drive from one end of the metro area to the other. Or should Manhattanites just start saying they live in Topeka?
"Which Chipotle you at bro? I've been waiting here like 5 minutes!"
"The one on 39th. Did you go to the one in Mission again? LMAO!"
"OMG! Same as last week!"
"We definitely need to specify boroughs bro. What do I always say?"
"Kansas City is bigger than NYC! I know bro, I know."
"Well, let's take it to go and meet up in Prairie Village. Try to fit in 9 at Indian Hills before the mother-in-law starts up again."
"Hear ya. Over and out."
