How strict is SW on carry on dimensions?  Most concerned about length.  ( :fatty:)  Carry on backpacks (like backpacking backpacks) with rigid internal frames.  I could remove the frames and put them in a checked bag to make the carry ons more squishy if I have to I guess.

If you are okay with being the bad person that carries on oversized bags, then it's probably fine.

when will you idiots learn that you're supposed to put your carry-on on its side in the new overhead bins?! why is it so hard? there are instructions right there in the bin staring at you in your fat face.

Why would you not just put the stuff you're eventually going to carry in your backpack in there to begin with?

1)  I'm not checking my DSLR and expensive lenses so I need to carry them on
2)  I don't want to bring any bags I don't need because space will be cramped in the vehicle once we get there
3)  Also generally I really don't like to check anything that is essential for the mission

SW isn't really strict about anything, if you're early bird check in, you'll find an overhead.
their flights are generally full though so the space fills quick

We just got back from Silverthorne, Co.  I feel fit AF back in the sultry Kansas air.  The mountains are cool and crap but thin air can go kick rocks.  Did the George Town loop steam engine ride, kids loved it, especially the 3yr old boy.  Went fishing in the Blue river, the 7yr old boy loved that even though we didn't catch anything.  Did some hikes around Dillon resivoir and various other locations.  Grilled meat and drank whiskeys with the brother in law on his deck every evening.  Pretty good trip aside from the grueling drive home with 4 tired and crabby kids and one backseat driving spouse.

you'll actually board between groups A and B (assuming you don't check in early and get group A). you'll be fine though.
