Denver doesn't have any mountains and is just the Kansas City of the front range with a longer train line
"oh wow I love this city because of how you can leave it and do cool stuff"

This makes up for your Dallas take.

Denver is great for KC'rs because you can get like a $99 roundtrip flight on Southwest. Once you get there, you can get some good food in the city and then drive right up into the mountains.

Plus.... CASA BONITA!!!

KC food scene is 10x Denver though.

No one I know in Denver ever rides the trains
I have a buddy who lives there and works in a state government job and rides the trains everyday, but admittedly he’s a fan of public services.

Steamboat Arabia is great, and they are still (!) cleaning crap off and putting it on display from the original recovery, so every time you go there is more stuff. Also I love the giant map of the Missouri River with the hundreds of known boat sinking sites. Like an lol amount of shipwrecks

I didn't even know KC had a WWI museum. Will have to check that out next time.
it’s actually the ww1 museum, not a ww1 museum

pretty big deal but to my earlier point, it doesn’t get much publicity

It's not just a museum.  It is THE World War I memorial for the USA.  AFAIK the only national war memorial not located in DC.

I'm on team Phil here.  Denver food scene is just okay.  But many places are way better, including KC and Omaha.

Does Denver have some sort of distinct regional cuisine?

I guess Omaha has steak

Denver is surely toward the front of the curve for new restaurant/food trends in virtue of being a trendy place for trendy people.

True story, the worst Denver omelette I ever ate was in downtown Denver at a place that claimed to be "the home of the Denver omelette".

Here me out here, but do you think it's possible that y'all think KC has a better food scene than a place you might visit once a decade because you're more familiar with the city and where the actual good restaurants are? If you go to Kansas City as a tourist you're only told about mid BBQ places maybe a steak place or two.

Yes I think it's possible, I even have thought that if I lived there maybe I could find something worthwhile.  But I only have my own experiences to go by here and I can comfortably say that I haven't found any reason in my many trips to Denver to believe that the restaurant scene there is anything but average, and that's being generous.  I have travelled to many other cities in this great land of ours and have been able to find decent dining almost everywhere.  Except Denver/Boulder.

If you're planning a trip to Denver, put Guy Fieri's favorite stops on your must-try list.
