New Orleans
« on: May 17, 2011, 01:18:21 PM »
Never been and planning a Fall trip, considering New Orleans.

Is this place elite or what? Love the crap out of Cajun food and Florida @ LSU on 10/8. LSU game is on the bucket list. Do the streets still smell like piss 8 months after Mardi Gras? Is October a good time to visit?  :dunno:

Doesn't that entire town suck more than it did pre Hurricane Katrina?

We might be waiting a while on this.  I'm not even 100% sure there are mods on this site.

i've never been, have no desire to go.  seems like a losery-type place.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Although I agree with you, I think what we were looking for was a mod's opinion.  Thanks for your input, though.

I like NO.

Never hit it hard for drinking, though.  Always there for family stuff during the day.  Pretty cool for that stuff.

My best bud had a cousin shot in the face for his paycheck there too.

it's awesome.  if you like to eat amazing food, drink too much, and do it over and over, you'll love it.  bourbon street is definitely worthwhile, but it's very touristy - albeit in a much better way than most touristy places.  don't miss out on other parts of the french quarter and uptown.  it can seem a little nasty and dirty at times, but that's part of the charm if you ask me.

what a bunch of lame-o's in this thread.

Yeah, that's my fault. In fact I'm pretty sure I've never said that before in my life. I just really want to see a game in Baton Rouge. Accept my apology everyone?

NOLA is great for eating delicious food and getting blackout drunk.  Just make sure you stay with a group of people so you don't get mugged/shot in the face.

very similar to a favorite saying of mine, which is "sea level or above is for pussies".  i say it all the time, it's what i say.

spot on (smells like vomit as well).  But add an LSU night game to the equation, holy chit    Stay at the "W" if you are scared of the locals, it's like an elite oasis inside of the funk

i agree w/ all this. i mean, i wouldn't want to go there every year or live there or anything but it is at least interesting and one of a kind. only a total loser idiot wouldn't want to at least go there once.

A place thats great to visit.  Good drinking/party scene and even better food.  People that hate those things probably won't enjoy it.

Also- people who have an aversion to voodoo zombies probably won't enjoy themselves.  The place is filthy with em.

Visited last summer (I think  :dunno:) with some elite OU/Mizzou guys

Stayed at the Intercon.  Was pak'd for 60% of it.  Woke up in Houston Int'l Airport 4 days later.

Damn you, hand grenades!

Loved the food though.  Ate at the city's Man V Food joint, great po'boys.  Crawfish are hard as cac to eat though and have very little meat.

Oh yeah, sweet tea and sundresses
