Is it harder to believe that a man who commonly calls them both KU and the Jayhawks would say Kayhawks than it is to believe that a man who has been on air for many years would just turn into a homophobe? To me it isn't.

i don't think it's strange at all to deny that he said something that he and everyone within earshot of him says that he didn't say. but then again i'm not a typical ku fan with a typical ku fan inferiority complex and chip on my shoulder the size of clinton lake. i'm just a casual observer w/ a little bit of knowledge and no dogs in the fight. i don't think he said it.

So you guys really can't see how using the word "gay" in a derogatory or demeaning fashion might be harmful to someone who's gay?  Anyone who does it is basically saying that being gay is inferior, or beneath them.

To me, it sounds like he says Kayhawks in mispronouncing it.  Could he have said Gayhawks, sure, but anybody pretending to know definitively is full of crap.  For KU fans to make someone out to be a bigot because they think he doesn't like their team enough is stupid.  You are attacking a man's personal beliefs with no proof and vilifying him.  You are making a joke out of the term bigot and thus blurring lines between right and wrong.  Knock it off already, you are hurting the cause you pretend to be defending.
